The Beano Rock Raiders Comic

You may be aware of the selection of comics created to go with the Rock Raiders sets and a few others in the odd LEGO magazine, but these aren't the only ones that exist. The Beano comics magazine had a run of eight comics between October 9th and November 27th 1999. These were to promote the theme at the time in the childrens comic book, but what is interesting is some sort of tie to Cartoon Network at the bottom. Whether Cartoon Network had any animated shorts or if it was just advertising on the network I am unsure.

Regardless, check out the comics.

  • Cyrem changed the title to The Beano Rock Raiders Comic

The cliche cliffhangers at the end of each page... they're just so terrible... the last panel has absolutely no plot elements to do with the previous one :P How long until "Oh no, there's a shark in the way and we have to jump over it?" :P

Good find!

I find it amusing how every piece of LRR media has a plot that is inconsistent with each other:

In Save the Spaceship (the "interactive puzzle storybook"), an asteroid smacked the LMS Explorer offline and there are some convenient crystals and ore right by.

In the video games, a wormhole sucked the LMS Explorer far from home: I think that agrees with High Adventure, Deep Underground?

And now here they're apparently just space miners.

At least it's better than the Sam Sinister naming convention :P

Whether Cartoon Network had any animated shorts or if it was just advertising on the network I am unsure.

Doubtlessly somebody's found this before, but there were LRR ads on Cartoon Network at least. I get the feeling that if there were shorts of some sort they'd have filtered their way to RRU by now: but that said, it's taken us this long to find these!
