Does anybody here remember Clutch Powers?

Eh. I wouldn't call it bad, but I wouldn't call it good either. Nothing about it really stood out as clever or interesting to me besides the basic appeal of it being LEGO... And then The LEGO Movie happened and blew it out of the water anyway.

Clutch? Yeah, he's the guy who got replaced by Emmet, right?

I watched the DVD with a friend once - didn't really like it. That was like 4-5 years ago, but I remember it being boring for sure. I also thought most of the film's aspects were pretty uninspired - like they just rehashed whatever ideas LEGO had going at that time...

Clutch Powers? That movie? That movie 'where the creators couldn't decide on a fixed LEGO Brick scale'. That movie where LEGO bricks are bigger or smaller than they should be, that bugs the hell out of me?

The film that teaches kids, by the memorable song 'I work alone', to do everything on their own and grow up as a lonely man? (Well, okay, maybe that is taking it way out of proportion)

Yes, I know more about Clutch Powers than I am willing to admit.

I sure do, I have a DVD of it too. It wasn't bad for what it was but there's better Lego film material out there.

I prefered the 4D movie a lot better.

I saw that in Legoland in Danish because they wouldn't play it in English anymore. It was still fun anyway and the city was suspiciously full of the two cars from the 10184 Town Plan set.

Clutch Powers is weird because it came out at that liminal stage where long-form Lego animations were still uncommon, but were just about to start flooding the world in an endless stream.

So like, it was all "cool! the first ever lego movie!" and it seemed like it was going to lead into something more directly (like, idk, more dtv lego movies) but instead the ninjagos and starwarses and lego movies just started parading in from their own independent paths and clutch is left as this kind of bizarre anomaly that doesn't have any real successor to its name, directly or spiritually.

You might even say it....... works alone

I remember Kai in Ninjago mentioning Clutch Powers in one episode but that was it

Clutch power is the main system of Lego. He didn't mentioned Clutch Power. He mentioned the system of Lego.

Gah, this movie brings back the memories. Bought it on a trip to Atlanta and watched it probably 5 times on the drive home with some friends. Also, first time I saw the Despicable Me trailer was on that DVD. I still quote the "Do you want a blue thingy or a red thingy?" when my sister says thingy :P
