Files looking common, but somewhat altered?

Some file types of LR2 (DR)

-------------------------

AIF (audio file) - okay, I know audacity can export AIFF files, but anyone know about AIF files? I'm not sure how similar these are, but I tried saving the AIFF file as AIF and it didn't work.

WRL (world model file... or seem to be until I took a closer look) - when comparing my own file to the one in game via hex editor , I noticed they are quite different. What they actually appear to be is data for a world. What goes where, what is loaded, etc.

MD2 (object model file) - haven't really tested with this, but this is a familiar format too.

MIP (texture file) - Again, is isn't a custom format for LR2, but I still can't figure out how to open or edit them. Suggestions?

---------------------------------

If anyone has some insightful info on any of these files, please let me (us) know!

WRL (world model file) - when looking at my own hex file via exporting my own from 3ds max (or either ripping from LRs on emulator via plugin), I noticed they are quite different, so I doubt they will work. : (

These aren't models at all, not even close. They say what models go where, what terrain is loaded, what NPCs are there and where they are, etc... I swapped the Dino Island and Arctic WRL files, and when I went to Dino Island, it put me in the arctic. Nothing was out of the ordinary, it was the normal arctic, with everything from the sound effects to NPCs to weather effects as normal, except for an odd glitch where NPC icons would appear as solid white when talking to them. Oh, and of course, I was in my Dino Island car.

I haven't done much with the models, but they don't appear to be normal MD2 files.

Yeah, was just testing that out and was about to change my first post. ;P

Also, yeah. I remember you saying that about the Arctic now.

Here is info on MD2 models.

"The file extension for the standard AIFF format is .aiff or .aif. For the compressed variants it is supposed to be .aifc, but .aiff or .aif are accepted as well by audio applications supporting the format."

... Dude, ATD's MD2 model format is completely custom, and most if it was worked out by Will months ago. No need to bump a topic half a year old with incorrect info when we've progressed waaaaaaay beyond it.

1) It has already been determined by Will that the MD2 models is mostly a custom format bearing no relation to the MD2 format (correct me if I am wrong) EDIT: ninja jamesster

2) A tutorial for modding the sound effects is available at '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> since a day after this topic was created.
