LEGO Is #1!

Well, they finally did it. The LEGO Group is now the most valuable toy company in the world. The company is currently worth around $14.6 BILLION, with toy giant Mattel Inc. now in second place, with a net worth of $14.4 billion. And to think that there was the looming fear that The LEGO Group was going to be bought by another company in the early 2000s.

In 2012, LEGO's sales jumped up by $4.04 billion. This also made billionaires out of Kjeld Kirk Krisitansen's children (Kjeld's grandfather being the founder of LEGO, back in the 1930s). As well, revenues rose by 25% last year, and have tripled since 2007.

So it looks like LEGO is doing just fine. Regardless of what the TFOLs and AFOLs might think of the direction the company has been going since the "dark ages" in the early 2000s, you have to admit they're making lots of money regardless. Think of that what you will.

Now, here's hoping that LEGO will lower their prices on sets in the future!

LEGO has always been Number One as far as toy companies. Always.

I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you...

The Ace Railgun

Haha Lego lower prices? It's like saying Hostess will go back in business. It's good to see that they have finally got to that point though.

They have expanded quickly. Perhaps they could put another American builder among their ranks, one filled with youth, potential, practice, and a well reserved yet massive ego. Hehehe...

Most valuable toy company? They jumped from third to first place within a year? The LEGO Company certainly does well then.

I'd have a read of this article. I thought LEGO was getting more expensive too, but this thing has cleared it up quite well.

Studying Freud and Jung psychology, I can tell you that you used the world in the entirely wrong context, and you're also wrong. I'd move to say you are more egotistical than Alcom is.

BUT ENOUGH.

Yes, $100 for the average set seems like a just price. >:(

You would rather they be priced like they were in the 90s again?

A good classic late 90's LEGO set such as this one was worth $80 when it was released. However, MONETARY VALUES VARY WITH RESPECT TO TIME, KIDDIES! So adjusting to inflation it would cost today... $115. Huh.
