Drop Dead

Yeah, yeah, everybody has their wild game ideas... heres mine. Keep in mind that I'm writing this in a very open and compressed format. I imagine it like if Ghost Recon, Dead Rising, COD, and Storm the House had a big orgy and made a beautiful baby out of it... and it didnt turn out looking like "Hills Have Eyes" material... xD

Drop Dead is a combination of all the things Zombie games cash in on the Horror (Zombies and Mass destruction) and the other things they leave out. They seem to all be short lived or pointless (Endless Zombie Rampage style) but that’s where the Survival thing comes in. But you can control your group of survivors (Real Time Strategy) and give them simple tasks (build, guard, attack, scavenge, move, patrol, etc.). But you’re not just some armchair general, you have got to survive too! So, you have to eat and kill a little on your own time (First Person Shooter/Role Playing Game). I hope you like it and remember it’s just a freaking outline.

(Pre-Infection)

*DAY ONE*

This is your first day. As Samuel Boston, you must eat. So find some breakfast around the house and fill your energy bar. You will need to fill your energy to survive, if you don’t manage to get eaten first. Keeping a full energy bar has many perks. You will run faster, build faster, and will have a higher likelihood of dodging or blocking attacks.

So, once you get the basics finished, you get a call from Yuri (Weapons friend) and he says that he wants to shoot some guns today. So drive over to the gravel pit and start firearm practice. Get used to the different guns and how to fire certain ones, as in the shotgun two-trigger action. Once you’re done, you can continue to practice or head home.

*DAY TWO*

Next day after you get some food, you get a call from Alex and he says there’s a paintball game planed for tomorrow at his cabin in Lockholm Forest. Bad part is you don’t have a gun. So it is off to the trusty Super Max (a Wal-Mart style store). You get the paint, some clothes, and a mask, but the guns are sold out. You call Justin to tell him and he says he’ll trade you something for one of his extra guns.

So, head back home and get something of value, a video game will work. Then you can trade with him. Get to his house and make the trade, and head back home and the rest of the day is yours to explore. Be sure to catch some rest, you’ll need the energy to play tomorrow.

*DAY THREE*

Next morning, eat and then make your way to the Paintball game. Your team is waiting, and you’ve been chosen captain. You have a few basic supplies and a CB radio. You have an hour or so to make a few preparations. Build some bunkers and get ready to play a CTF game. (Building Tutorial)

You can either stay at the base or help coordinate attacks or go out and fight with your friends. You can always go back or go fight whenever you want. (Combat/RTS tutorial)

After the game your friends convince you into staying the night. So you go inside and get rested for the next day.

*DAY FOUR*

Next morning you wake up and have nothing to eat. So you decide to go to a local river with a fishing pole and catch some fish. After you catch a few fish you head back to the camp. Cook them and impress your friends with your survival skills.

Your friends decide to stay another day, but you’re not in the mood to "rough it" another night. Head home, kick back, and relax for a while. That evening, you change it to the news, and see a special report about an asteroid group that is passing close to Earth. They say it will be no threat, and will be just a nice meteor shower. Just the mention of it being “no threat” makes you nervous. This has happened before and they’ve never mentioned it being no threat. You check the fridge and see it’s kind of empty. So, you get in your truck and head to town.

Head o the Super Max and buy some supplies. You have free choice on what to buy and this is a good time to stock up on canned goods. After you have your supplies, you head home and sleep easy.

*DAY FIVE*

Shortly after you get some breakfast, Yuri calls you and tells you he’s a little suspicious too. He wants you to meet him at a local gas station and he has a present for you. Once you get there he’s already waiting in the parking lot by his truck. He tells you to get in and then shows you what he called you for. He has an Uzi (9mm), a 12 gauge, and a .45 magnum pistol. Take your pick but remember that each one has it own advantages and disadvantages. You get home and put your new gun up and get some rest.

(Infection Begin)

Post Apocalypse:

This is the few events leading up to the Infection and the early events after. This is where you take over.

*DAY SIX*

You wake up during the night to the screaming sounds of meteors crashing outside. You were right about the meteors. They were a threat. The phones are already out and it’s to dangerous outside. Even the radio stations are out. When the meteor shower stops it’s almost daybreak, but an eerie fog is all around. You know complete chaos has taken hold of the world outside. There’s no use getting mixed up in what is happening out there just yet.

Take the day to board up your windows with scraps nearby. Throughout the day you can here the shooting and violence that has taken hold of Stemple. Sleep that night is short at best.

*DAY SEVEN*

Strangely, the next morning you awaken to silence. As you step outside you are surprised by a panicked Yuri. He walks inside and tells you to lock the door, confused you comply and wait for him to catch his breath.

He mumbles on about dead bodies everywhere. He was up all night and at about 3:00 AM it grew silent. As he drove to the city to figure out what had happened he was shocked, people were wheezing and lying dead in the street. Some of them were getting back up and eating the others! Those people were turning into Zombies! You start to say something, but he jumps up and interrupts you. “They’re here! They’re here!” He runs to the window and shouts, “There! Here comes a hoard of those undead bastards now.”

Stunned at your friend’s behavior, you walk to the window. There are people down the street, moping about as if in a search for something. They don’t look right, you open the front door against your friend’s wishes, and when the people spot you they hurriedly shuffle towards you like… ZOMBIES! This is no sick joke anymore, this is real, rush back into the house and kill them before they break in. As soon as you kill the last of the hoard, Yuri tells you all he knows. The asteroid group hit Earth and let off some kind of vapor. Visibly, it dissipated after only a few hours. The effect was delayed but after about 24 hours, well I think that’s obvious by now. This isn’t about killing as many of them as you possible, this is about survival of the fittest. Mankind will be reborn, a new world awaits you. How will you survive?

First and formost i want this to be a game that is firmly rooted in the core of gaming society, i want intput from gamers of all walks of life. I have several images and even some other sample gameplay elements i have to post. This is just a what do ya think type post.

**Key Game elements**

PDA

every game needs a menu, even the pro realistic games have a pause button :D but in Drop Dead keeping in tune with the realism, you will have a PDA, of course after the outbreak happens you wont have phone service, but like me here in the desert my Droid 2 has really been a mind saver :D anyway, its where you'll adjust settings, and have access to different story elements and survivor missions and with the marvels in technology these days also has a handy heath monitor, which tells you all about your ailments and what-not.

**PET PEEVES**

One thing that really gets me about games is the instant gratification we have as gamers... with Drop Dead nothing will be "instant" like, "oh a zombie just bit me, im gonna use this med kit whiles running from the horde, yay im healed now, im gonna kill more zombies!" this will be represented with it taking a small ammount of time to stop and bandage the wound and making body part slightly less usable for an ammount of time. nothing to severe though, you may have reduced abilities for a few hours (game time of course) but stil getting in a big knock down, drag out fight with a zombie hoard or a band of outlaws will cost you if you get your arse whooped.

And energy instant gratification, you'll have to eat, as in one decent meal a day will sufice, but not to the point you get malnourished. but still you have to keep your body and your survivors bodies working as well as possible. i dont mind leaving out those private moments of course, but maybe use it as a save feature like Dead Rising... as i was saying though, energy will deminish over time, proportional to activity and injury. different foods give different buffs and stuff like even if you eat to much you'll get a buff that will make your energy stall out for a bit and you have to walk off that bulging belly of yours... fatty...

Energy VS Strength VS Heath

First off Energy will be the meter of how much spunk you got in you, it will be limited by your Strength. Strength is your meter that is overall wellness, like how much sleep you got and how well you are fed, it will be limited by Health. Health is a general term describing your overall physical fittness, it is decreased by injuries or raised by lack of. It can also be buffed by having a good diet and by keeping some sort of good moral. like other people around you being healthy or by having good supplies and being well armed. Who says having a 50 cal isnt good for your health, haha. :D

AH! IM BIT! BLECH! XP not...

Ok in all seriousness a virus spreading contact to contact would be shut down tighter than an Alien Spacecraft landing in Nevada... xD it would be delayed action if at all possible and if that was the case, it would peobly be isolated like in 28 days later. I have a much better theory, one think that we would be nearly incapable to defend against, would be a wide area dispersed arial mutagen. If that was the case, nearly everyone would be subjected to the mutagen. As military, we would be equiped to deal with it with Chemical warfare suits, but how would we be able to know until it was almost to late.

So any Survivors would have to have some sort of immunity or resistance. So in this theory instead of having to hop up on the Zombrex train, maybe if your body was able to resist the full onslaught of the arial mutagen, that you would only need a little boost to get over mild to moderate infections. Cue antibiotics and immuno boosters.

**A Little Explination**

The fog was an air dispersed bacterial mutagen. It dispersed quickly but it left its deadly mark on all who were exposed to it. The lucky few that had immunity will be spared no horror though. The mutagen will be slow acting at first. The slow and dumb “Zombies” (Dead Rising) will shuffle about for about 4-5 months. Soon a more gruesome “Runners” (28 Days Later) will start chasing you down. After about 7-9 months the mutants will appear. Some being horrible “Freaks” (The Flood from Halo) and a small number will become “Behemoths” (like overgrown Tanks from Left 4 Dead) and even have a simple control over lesser zombies. These Behemoths will be over 10 feet tall and be a great threat to even the best equipped band of survivors.

--Not Validated--

Later “Sweepers” will appear almost a year into the game, I keep imagining them looking like the Tripods off of War of the Worlds, but smaller of course, 20 ft tall. These are mechanical observers will not attack unless provoked but will yield a great amount of valuable scrap and alien tech. Beware, the wrath of a Sweeper. Their design is to destroy all non-sentient or non-peaceful life forms. This is ironic for a machine of such destructive power.

**RESOURCES**

The uses and descriptions of building materials and food found in the game.

*Beams and Panels*

Wood and Steel resources are broken into two parts: beams, long slender pieces as in a 2x4, and panels, thin and wide pieces as in a 4’x8’ piece of plywood; beams are measured in approximate ft./m and panels are measured in approximate sq. ft./sq. m.

*Wood*

Beams and Panels; 2x4’s, 4x4’s, etc.; plywood and wood paneling; quick to build; not good against bullets and burns easy; uses nails to fasten.

*Steel*

Beams and Panels; angle iron and steel struts; steel plates and sheet metal; takes longer to build and needs melding specialist; much stronger, immune to fire and very bullet resistant; weld or bolt to fasten.

*Fasteners* (DROPPED)

Nails; Nuts and bolts; used in building to hook materials together for building.

**Water**

Bottled water, tap water, and water from natural sources; measured in gallons/liters; basic need; found all across map; may get infected; easy to spot infected water by black specks floating in the water.

**Food**

Food is measured in pounds/kilograms; basic need for survival.

*Meats*

Steaks and chicken; also includes pecans, eggs, and other protien related items; good, lasting energy but takes time to take maximum effect; can get infected; will spoil if not preserved or with some items kept cool.

*Fruits and Veggies*

Includes grains and all vegetables and fruits; plentiful in farms; a good medium energy source; store for longer; can be washed if in good condition to remove infection; fruits and Veggies will replenish over time if the plant that produced them is still alive and will make a renewable food resource.

*Snacks*

Chips, cookies, candy, sweets, etc; small and good quick energy source; energy doesn’t last as long; usually sealed and lasts long and cant be infected sealed; lots of fats

*Canned Goods*

Can be any of the above; store for extremely long times; tough containers; need can opener for most; can’t get infected sealed; great trade item.

*Energy Drink*

Maxes out energy bar, but has a crash phase after an hour or so

**SPECIAL RESORCES**

These are not standard resources and are not needed for survival, but can give you a much better chance. Some tools require them.

*Welding Sticks*

Used in welding

*Tube of Sealant*

Used for waterproofing and general sealing or patching

*Gas*

Universal propellant and fuel

*Torch Fuel*

Used by torch to cut steel; includes oxygen and setaline tanks

*Putty Weld*

Tube of putty that is a two part epoxy; can be used in place of one welding stick; very rare but requires no power source or specialist

*Battery*

Used as a universal power source for some hand held devices.

**TOOLS**

These are the basic tools found around the area. Many are needed to build barricades and such. You will probably want to carry a hammer with you at all times.

*Hammers*

Basic – Standard hammer; light; takes up about as much room as a handgun

Ball Pin – Heavy; faster build times

Carpenter’s – Heavy; less nails used; faster build times

*Welding Equipment*

Includes mask and gloves

Advanced – has generator for power supply and much faster than basic, power supply also produces extra power for use as a backup generator

Basic – needs an external power source; much smaller; slower

*Sealant Gun*

Needed for use of sealant gun tubes.

*Saws*

Reduces resource usage.

Hacksaw – cuts steel; very slow; cuts wood beams but extremely slow; breaks easy; not a good weapon

Wood saw – cuts wood; can’t cut steel; serrated blade does good damage

Chainsaw – fast woodcutter; also, greatest zombie genocide weapon of all times.

*Setaline Torch*

Used for cutting steel; same as a hacksaw but much faster; can cut holes for bolts; uses setaline and oxygen tanks.

*Drill*

Drills holes for bolts.

Battery – Uses a battery charged using a charger.

Corded – Uses external power source; much faster.

*Can Opener*

Used to open canned goods.

*Battery Charger*

Used for charging various batteries.

This is fantastic, and if I wasn't already trying to start a gaming company with my friend and juggle like 4 projects at once, I'd definitely ask to help you. Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing something come about this awesome idea.

And hey, if you do want to make this game reality but you need some people, I could MAYBE ask my friend and we could make this our first project instead of the slightly more difficult ideas we've got in the churning pot...

yeah basically man, that would be my dream... but like i said to you before, im just a poor guy trying to make a living in the Air Force...

i really dont know where to take it that it would acctually get to where i want it. i have a feeling if i could get it to a big game developer, that i would probly be completly excluded from the whole process once i coughed up the idea, but this outline is almost 4 years old now... im not going to get anything out of it by hiding it...

Relax. I've got this. Unless anybody comes along and can do it better, I'll try hook up the team who was meant to band together a while ago, and we'll start on this.

I'm currently working on a few projects myself, but I can recommend an engine to start with.

I know it doesn't have as high of graphics quality as the Unreal or Crysis engines, but Source is extremely versatile and in addition the SDK is free as long as you have a payed Source game already (HL2, HL2 Ep1/Ep2, CS:S, TF2 Premium/Pre F2P, L4D, L4D2, DoD, any of the Source remakes of the gold source games, Portal, Portal 2, Hl2 Deathmatch except the free nVidia version).

hey i am completly open, i've been sitting on this for way to damn long. at this point if someone stole it i would almost just be glad it got out there... almost... Alex says he'll still make you swallow barbed wire, pull it out your bum, and floss you to death... yeah his words not mine.

I've been asked to do a formal GDD, which means i got a lot of writing to do. And for a little help could anyone help me with NPC's anyone will do just be sure you stick to the theme that this is a game where there are no Frank West's, Chuck Norris's, or any other Demi-God characters. I want real believeable people strugling against an undead America... which is kinda funny cause i may have Australians developing it... Nothing personal guys...

Here's a little bit of format. For the things im really looking for. Qualities given are just examples.

Character Name: I dont care if you found the name in a Phonebook

Back story: What was he doing before the Infection?

Personality: Does he try to be a real Hard-Ball, or is he a helpless nerd

Look: Biker, Barbie, Dork, Slob, or Suburban Tom? What does he dress like?

Physical characteristics: Strong, weak, tall, fat, or just regular joe?

Special Abilities: Mechanic, Welder, Trucker, Soilder? what is his job and special skillset?

Relevance to game story: Do you just run across him in a downtown bar or is he some drunk farmer running over zombies on a tractor? Or is he a scientist that can help you with research about the infection? or just some useless idiot?

Relationship to other characters: self explanitory

Statistics: for example we can use a simple 1-10 rating.

Small guns = pistols, SMG's

Big guns = assault rifles, shotguns

Heavy Weapons = rocket launchers, heavy machine guns

Explosives = C4, TNT, Homemade Explosives

Hand to hand = knives, brass knuckles

Throwing = spears, grenades

Medical = first aid

Thief = lockpick, sneaking

Mechanical = welding, engine repair

Electronics = computers, electrical wiring

survival = traps, bow and arrow, cooking food outdoors

Speech = barter, leadership, conversation

Nice idea, though I have a suggestion, do some run ins with the military who you help

I R military bro...

This is...Just awesome.

I had a similar idea in the past but, of course, it was more world sim orientated...

Can you elaborate on the building part? I love games with building like minecraft, terraria, RPGWO, DF...

Building AND zombie apocalypse survival? That's just crazy fun.

well the closest thing to what i have pictured for the building/rts feel is COD: Nazi Zombies, that would be a good example of how the player would be able to do a quick patch job. it would last a bit longer of course, but the look and feel would be similar. but for more advanced and sturdier construcition you would turn to your buildings Command desk, ussually located in the more secure parts of a building. there you would have a crude drawing of the house in a blueprint style format, and your PDA would serve as a menu for storing designs of "upgrades" you had learned. from simple patch jobs with wooden boards, to welding steel doors shut, to putting plywood and good backing to windows. you can make anything from a simple stash to a full fledged stronghold.

from this command desk you would also have access to all the resorces on the lot. like you'll be able to give survivors tasks, from gather food and materials in the local area, to guard the windows, to fortify the building the best they see fit (dependant on the survivors Mechanical abilities), to even in the event of a complete overrun you can order them to hold down the command room. (i shy from calling it a safe room although some houses may have more solid defendable positions from basements to tornado safe rooms)

your PDA and Radio combo will have a major role in the RTS feel of the game. it will add people to your contacts list when you meet them (how handy) and it will be able to tell you a little about them and their last know whereabouts. if they are near you or especialy if they are in the same building as you, you can give them orders from this menu. although it will be a verbal order, phones are out, so keep in mind it has a low range. if you equip said survivor with a radio, the range you can give them orders if greatly increased, allowing you to give them general orders like move into a building, or scavange in a certain location. they will also be able to contact you with important information like if they have spotted zombies or if they are under attack my raiders and thieves.

this will all be controled from your PDA, but it will be in real time, unlike the pause menu (which will clearly be marked paused), and you will have to be sure you are in a safe spot while you are giving orders in this manner. for simple and general orders you will be able to give simple shout-out commands with, let's say the D-pad, to tell people what to do quickly. the PDA and Radio combo will be reserved for more technical orders.

your PDA will also have an advanced GPS tracking and Map system (the satellites are still running, i dont know how legit that would be but yeah for the sake of the game we'll run with it) and this map system will save important notes and information about certain buildings and give you the ability to set waypoints and help you to remember where you stashed that box of grenades :D

in closing, your PDA will be a very versitile tool, form being solar powered :P (hope you dont think im going to make you charge the damned thing), to the advanced Health monitoring, Modification/blueprint saving, GPS, and contacts system. its going to be a big portion of the game interface and it will help you keep track of all the madness going on in the wrecked world you're living in.

thats all for today, give me some more to write about :D

The PDA system is good. As much as I'd like you to focus in on the GDD, I think you should do a little more about that PDA. A couple of drawing of what it would look like and maybe a flow-chart of the different menus and features that the player can use on the PDA as well as anything else that you think would be important should be pretty sweet.

Anyways, my friend wasn't present today, but they must come tomorrow, so I'll be able to run everything by her then and hopefully get this company started and whatnot.

Character Name: You never really learn his name (for the purposes of this post let's call him John Smith, the most common name in the United States).

Back story: Minding his own business. He's a generic extra that would otherwise never even have any impact on events.

Personality: Typical office guy, slightly cowardly, has no idea what's going on.

Look: Typical office atire, albeit a bit torn due to him running away from zombies.

Physical characteristics: Regular Joe

Special Abilities: He knows the ins and outs of office data management systems. I don't know if that would be useful, though. He also worked with the marketing guys.

Relevance to game story: You rescue him from an office building/wrecked car/wherever, and then he tags along for a while (if you don't kill him first). Other than his skill with computers he's a useless idiot.

Relationship to other characters: Clings to the nearest person who knows what their doing, because he sure doesn't.

Statistics: for example we can use a simple 1-10 rating.

You may want to reduce his heavy weapons stats and exchange them for thief, since as you said "he uses stealth".

ok, people are getting really random... hmm, how about this being this game is about "How will YOU survive?", how about you give me you own profile :D no of course you cant pose as Rambo... me personally i'll start with my Profile.

OH! and i added another skill. Driving... i forgot all about that in the inital list.

Character Name: Ethan Wyatt, 28 me in 7 years

Back story: Ex USAF, works with local police station in Ammo Locker

Personality: tries to keep his composure, but is a firm believer in "a good run is better than a piss poor fight anyday." this doesnt make him a coward, he just likes to cover his exits.

Look: ussually sporting cargo pants and heavy jacket with many pockets in the winter. usually carrying a backpack with his computer, or a bite to eat.

Physical characteristics: 6'3" 230lbs not a heavy set guy but a big guy. uses his height to his advantage by being able to spot some things some people may overlook.

Special Abilities: good with power tools and can even weld messy patch jobs. he can take apart almost anything but probly not going to be able to put it back together, quickly at least. past experiences in the miliraty have taught him how to drive almost anything. also a good spotter.

Relevance to game story: at the local air strip barricaded in the control tower. using rigged silenced weaponry to keep zombie straglers at bay.

Relationship to other characters: had a wife who was killed in the initial outbreak. he wont talk about it, but still keeps his wedding band. (sorry my wife being dead is to cliche for you, people die, i want this to be a personal thing for the gamer to understand. a lot of people you will have brief introductions with in the final days before the outbreak will be die in the Infection)

Statistics: for example we can use a simple 1-10 rating.

Character Name & Age: We call him "Troopa", but we never learn his real name, and is about 25

Back story: Worked in the Australian Military, specifically on background, secret projects for NASA (Australian Military and NASA should work together, I think...they need the money) involving orbital drops and secret weapons and such...was first trained as a pilot in the Australian Air Force, and after successfully learning to pilot Fighter Jets and even large Aircraft, he was involved in a famous hijacking. His bravery in the situation made him a candidate for a Special Ops group, which he joined with no hesitation. The group had a focus on technology and a class focus on Survival. He failed his survival course, but was chosen to take part in several high priority tests for NASA due to his superior abilities with technology and his strength and medical skills

Personality: Troopa rarely speaks, but he's tough nuts; will never back down from a challenge, rarely gets stumped by a puzzle and often will point things of interest out to the player...he might be dangerous, but he likes to be helpful

Look: Troopa wears some highly secret armor...nothing you've seen before. It's not the strongest, but it's made for survival purposes, and it does well in protecting against zombie melee attacks as well as the weaker weapons

Physical characteristics: Troopa is unnaturally strong on account of his training, but is only above-average height. In the event he takes his helmet off, he has a pretty big scar over his left eye, and a couple of permanent bullet wounds in his back

Special Abilities: Troopa was trained a solider, but he's all about the technology...he can repair objects with ease and less parts than most survivors, he can hack the most difficult security systems and has the plans for the most complex radio system that will work in the post-apocalyptic environment, provided that you can get him specific parts

Troopa comes pre-equipped with dual Walther PPS Pistols and a single custom made and in-scripted M1014 (his favorite weapon), and has supreme skills when using a Sniper Rifle

He also has one special melee move, despite his failure in Martial Arts. (Still working on that since I forgot how it goes)

Relevance to game story: Troopa (should) can be recruited as part of the players party, and can be assigned to deal with any technological issues that need to resolve. He can also assist in speeding up building by a small margin, and can also give the player basic medical assistance if their vitals run low

Relationship to other characters: Troopa knows a couple of underground agents who are hiding in certain locations on the map, and these agents can provide ammunition and free food if Troopa is with the player. Troopa, however, is relatively new to the city after a failed deployment test in which he crash landed and was stranded near to the city

Statistics:

Small and Medium Weapons: 8/10 - His main weapons

Heavy Weapons = 3/10 - Only trained in Sniper Rifles, in which he has very high skill

Explosives = 9/10 (Can do EOD) - Trained as an EOD specialist while undertaking Special Ops, and has created and safely destroyed many

Hand to hand = 2/10 - Troopa never passed his Martial Arts course, and even though he has much strength, he cannot focus it for melee

Throwing = 1/10 - Never able to correctly judge his accuracy or his strength while throwing

Medical = 7/10 - Trained during Special Ops, but lacks the most advanced training for emergency situations

Thief = 6/10 - Learned during Special Ops in case required for extracting intel in hostile countries

Mechanical = 6/10 - Dad was a mechanic and thus remembers some of his previous mechanical experience

Electronics = 10/10 - Focus of his Special Ops training

Survival = 6/10 - Focus of his Special Ops Training, but failed due to his inability to conserve ammo or survive in hazardous environments

Speech = 3/10 - Barely talks, but is usually inspirational when he does

Driving = 7/10 - First dream was to be a professional race driver, and he almost fulfilled that but dropped out after being banned for aggressive behaviour

Piloting = 9/10 - Was trained prior to Military in Fighter Jets, and also did a small amount of training in large Aircraft. Later recruited for Special Ops after saving a 747 in which the pilot had been concussed by a rouge civillian

Character Name: Ciprian Blarg, 21 (dumbed down me in several years)

Back story: Computer scientist that worked on state of the art computing technologies. Very well paid job.

Personality: Bob is crazy. Bob's brother is insane. Bob's friend is pure lunacy. Ciprian is bob's friend.

Look: Always wears jeans. Always.

Physical characteristics: 6'0", 150lbs. Average person in strength. Took karate as a kid for self defense.

Special Abilities: Anything related to technology. Learned to use firearms while playing with BB guns he found stashed under a tree at a local park in his teen years.

Relevance to game story: Found holed up in a secret organisation's tehcnological labs. Was safe until some crazy fools decided to break their way inside, bringing hoards of zombies into a delicate technology development facility. In a panic, his superiors accidentally caused portions of the facility to explode. He now dwells in the ruins of this facility continuing his research while fighting off zombies. He's not the only one there, mind you. It's not too ruined either. It just has entrances for the zombies to come in.

Something that furthered his antisocial is several of his colleagues getting infected. He was forced to blow off the heads of his only friends in the entire world. Some say he's taken to working on robotic machines designed to detect and kill zombies. The success of this undertaking is unknown. And with the state of the world, highly unlikey - but worth a shot, nonetheless. When he needs stress relief, he runs around the nearby town unloading his Uzzis on unsuspecting zombies.

Relationship to other characters: Is very antisocial.

Statistics: Using 1 - 10 rating.

Small guns = 6 - Never say BB guns are useless.

Big guns = 1 - Only ever touched one once.

Heavy Weapons = If this includes SMGs and high rate of fire rifles, 8. Otherwise, 1

Explosives = 1 - Knows how they work, but lacks the experience.

Hand to hand = 7 - karate.

Throwing = 5 - Has bad aim, but a good throwing arm.

Medical = 0 - Detests biology and anything related.

Thief = 1 - Better at barging in and killing everybody, then taking what he wants than sneakily stealing stuff.

Driving = 2 - Absolutely hates cars.

Mechanical = 8 - Required in his job more than you'd think.

Electronics = 10 - His life is focused around this,

survival = 5 - Is used to the luxuries of the current world, so takes time "breaking in" to get accustomed to this survival world.

Speech = 2 - Doesn't speak much

Other stuff:

Spent every spare dollar he gained on buying a large collection of high rate of fire weapons. UZIs, SMGs, various guns, even illegal weapons. Also has the ammo for it all.

ok, people are getting really random... hmm, how about this being this game is about "How will YOU survive?", how about you give me you own profile :D no of course you cant pose as Rambo... me personally i'll start with my Profile.

Well, better get to work then... I really go in-depth with personal characters.

Character Name: Cyrus. You don't learn his last name.

Back story: President and CEO of an aerospace contracting firm, and a self-taught swordsman in the style of Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu. He was visiting relatives at the time of the meteor impact.

Personality: Keeps to himself, with an unnatural coolness in times of struggle and a slightly sarcastic sense of humor. Doesn't start fights, but won't back down from one. Believes that a person who throws away their freedom for security deserves neither. Is very kind to animals. Respects all life.

Look: If you've read Psyren, then he looks like the actor with the long hair, but with shorter hair. He always caries a replica of the Sakabato from Rurouni Kenshin at his side.

Physical characteristics: Athletic due to his sword training. Not extremely muscular, but he has some muscle definition like a soldier or a professional baseball player. Relatively tall, about 6'5". Black hair, about shoulder length. There's something not exactly natural about him (although it's simply an appearance thing and won't impact his abilities), but you can't really point it out. Although he's not albino, he has a reddish tinge to his otherwise brown eyes.

Special Abilities: An expert aeronautics engineer, capable of "MacGyvering" together working aircraft given sutable resources (strong metals, working internal combustion engines, and basic metalworking and garage tools) and enough time (likely would need a few days to build a bare-bones aircraft that can carry more than one person). Also an expert swordsman capable of taking on several armed and skilled opponents at once (not an entire army, but maybe a handfull).

Relevance to game story: You find him fighting his way through a hoard of Zombies and holding his own. If you have him on your team (recommended) he can help with wilderness survival by gathering food and hunting, and transportation by repairing or building vehicles. He is also probably the best choice for keeping Zombies at bay, though they wouldn't always count as kills (he can incapacitate them, but he won't kill as long as there is a shred of the original individual left).

Relationship to other characters: He lost his relatives to the infection.

Statistics: for example we can use a simple 1-10 rating.

Small guns = 5 - A half-decent shot, but doesn't like using guns.

Big guns = 5 - See small guns.

Heavy Weapons = 6 - He designs military planes, so he would obviously know the ins and outs of their weapon system.

Explosives = 5 - Prefers using them as diversions rather than direct weapons.

Hand to hand = 10 - Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu is probably the only Kenjutsu (Japanese Sword Combat Arts) style that can't be countered by any one style of sword arts, European or Asian, and it's tough to master.

Throwing = 4, although if what he's throwing is a Japanese sword this stat would be a 10.

Medical = 5 - He knows what he's doing, but that's not saying much.

Driving = 8 - He raced tuner cars on closed courses as a hobby in his later teens and early 20's.

Thief = 4 - He sees such tactics as dishonorable.

Mechanical = 10 - Aerospace engineering isn't like rocket science, it IS rocket science.

Electronics = 10 - See Mechanical.

Survival = 8 - He seems to have an instinctual knowledge about the wilderness. In addition wild animals aren't as frightened by his presence as they would normally be, though the reason for this is unknown.

Speech = 6, though his leadership skills would be at 10.

He may seem OP'd, but his personality would actually hinder a lot of his weaker abilities more than listed.
