So, recently I realized that when I originally joined I didn't actually introduce myself at all in the New Members subforum (actually, I think I just joined and then forgot about RRU for a while, and then I rediscovered it several months later), and because I now have this shiny new Blog, I thought I'd actually write a bit about myself even though you all know who I am. Anyway, enjoy! Or try to at least...

So, hello there, My name is Ayliffe! If you're wondering how to pronounce that, it's like bailiff but without the B, and NOT pronounced Bayleef as Shadowblaze thought it was originally. I did consider using the Username AyliffeMakit as I do on Eurobricks but I realized that it was a bit of a mouthful and-

Okay, I'm getting too sidetracked now. Remember, this is my introduction, not my life story, right? Let's try this again, from the top now...

Hello RRU, my name is Ayliffe, and I have quite a lot of Lego! Seriously, I reckon I own about 200 sets and I have a rather large city made up of modular buildings. I also have quite a few old lego games, including all of the lego racers and lego island games plus quite a few more. Sadly I don't own LRR yet, but if I see it then I'll pick it up (fun fact: so far all of my Lego games have come from charity shops. In fact, ALL of my games have come from charity shops, which may explain why I play RCT2 so much). For gaming, all I have is a basic Windows XP computer, so I don't really play games too much-

Right, now I'm just getting sidetracked by my gaming history. I've just got to focus on the task at hand, writing a simple introduction about myself. How hard can it really be? Okay then, let's have one last try at this...

Hello there, I'm Ayliffe, and I'm pretty new here. I live in London, so I can be classed as pretty British indeed. Sadly this means that the nearest lego store is not very close to me in stratford, but thankfully I can get the Javelin, which is a high-speed train that takes 7 minutes to get to Stratford, even if it is slightly expensive-

Now I'm getting distracted by trains in London! this is getting ridiculous now, I've gotta start again now- in fact, forget it, I don't really need an introduction now, this disasterous post has really introduced me now anyway, so congratulations for reading through all of these ramblings about myself, here's a cat GIF to reward you:

Now, maybe I should actually write something serious, informative and worth reading on this blog.... nah, too boring. I'll just continue writing silly pointless stuff constantly about anything and everything. :P

Hello, Ayliffe, and welcome to RRU! :P

But isn't bailiff the same as Bayleef? Just a longer "F", nothing too different. :P

Sounds nearly the same to me. I can't help it, I'm no native English speaker. :P

Howdy. It feels like we have meet before.

Certainly not. "Bayleef" is quite literally the words bay and leaf combined. That is a not too subtle but different enough contrast from the work bailiff. :P

EDIT:

Maybe pet a kitten. Yeah. Pet that kitty.

To me, the only differences I hear are a longer "E" and a shorter "F" (in "Bayleef"). That might be it, you know? :P

Now we just have to work out how to pronounce Xiron. I always pronounce it as Zee-Ron for some unknown reason, but I know it's wrong.

It believe it is Zi-Ron, Zi like the Xy in Xylophone.

or for that matter the way you say and write 'prounounciation' in the first place. :P

I know, right? It's impossible to get that word right. For a moment I also thought that word never existed. :P

I pronounce "Xiron" like it should be pronounced in my language, but that's for sure not right. Actually, I pronounce everyone's name here like it should be pronounced in my language. Oh well. :P

Things are made worse by the Brits insisting on one spelling and the Americans on another...

...can't we all go and speak Latin? Necesse est nobis linguam Latinuam dicere, quod omnes linguras (nisi Latin) molesti sunt.

While I had no pronunciation in mind while creating the name, I like to pronounce it as Xi-ron in my head. Hard x (meaning not sounding like a z... or Greek letter Xi, if I am getting this right).

So 'ex-eye-ron?'

EDIT: Has there been one blog post with more comments than this? :P

Yes, that's how I pronounce your name! I wanted to write that in my comment, but it was getting too long and confused, so I cut that part. :P

And how do you pronounce Xalax? :P

So 'ex-eye-ron?'

Nope. It's Ex (without the vowel sound)-eye-ron. you were close, but wrong.

And how do you pronounce Xalax? :P

The closest thing that comes to mind is X-zalax. Yes, I know, I'm an oddball with pronunciations. :P
