Ok so qiute alot of people hate power miners now. So to find out how many preffer RR to PM, i started a poll. Also , if rock raiders wins by far, i may email lego and ask why if soo many people prefer rr to pm, why they keep pm not rr. Maybe(unlikely though)they may listen and we may be seeing RR on our shelves again! Let's hope so!

if rock raiders wins by far...

It will. This is a Rock Raiders forum, not a Power Miners forum, so the votes will be heavily skewed. If you went to a Power Miners forum (I don't know if one exists) and posted the same poll, it would be skewed towards the Power Miners. Ergo, we're not an accurate way of estimating whether the overall Lego community likes RR or PM more.

Yes. and they won't discontinue power miners, because no matter what some people think, power miners do sell. And RR is just over. Besides, if they recontinued RR, they'd probably tighten enforcement on copyright breaking, or game modification. So I don't actually want RR to be recontinued, even though I prefer it.

http://www.powerminersunited.org hasn't been taken yet.

And yes. The picture of Doc ( :doc: ) ... eviscerating a "rock monster" has been posted here at least ... 4 times. Yeah, we don't like 'em.

I should buy it and redirect it to RRU.

I only (somewhat) like (and actually own a few) of the larger power miners set. Things like the Thunder Driller and that crystal sweeper that won't actually sweep up crystals unless it goes at unreallisticly fast speeds, which its treds won't allow (a terrible waste both for LEGO and the people who made it in the Lego world). The smaller vehicles I absolutaly can't stand, as no effort is in them. On products, they even cut the extra and very existant wheel out of the image of the stone chopper to get more people to buy it. And DON'T even GET me started on that thing that they shamefully call "Granite Grinder", after the Rock Raiders set "The Granite Grinder" (yes the original one had a The in it). It has a trident possing as a drill, and drags around a bin that is constantly rolling over or getting stuck due to its massive lack of wheels, tracks, or any mode of transportation other than sliding (second to none to static).

The "toilet" or "trash can" monsters (of which I have seen numerous jokes about, even on LEGO.com) are disgusting. The big rock monsters, I would actually say, are better than the ones in the Rock Raiders SETS, due to their printed eyes and mobility which RR Monsters lacked. However, in concept, RR monsters are better, as the PM monsters are too diverse to keep up with.

Also that disgusting Orange and Green, and the fact of their massive sizes.

That is all.

I don't get why people hate PM. I mean, they have rare colors, awesome parts, good models, good minifigs, lots of EC colors for MOCs, and the 2010 minifigs have awesome silver suits and armor....

But we knew Rock Raiders before this happened. PM is just the RR models that never made their way into production. We know that they are the continuation of RR, but not nearly as epic. PM doesn't even have a real story line either, just some random "rock monsters" are finding and eating crystals that make them vibrate. What the hell? RR were intergalactic miners, with their own epic ship. These guys have...what? A big drilling tower? So what? The "beat the big evil monster in the center of the earth" idea is too...bleh. Its just too cliché.

Rock Raiders are epic, PM are cheap imitations.

For an example of a theme that was brought back right, look at Space Police. Sure, the current gimmicks like flick-fire missiles are thrown in, but you still have intergalatic police officers catching members of the Blacktron, which are the bad guys. Some of the baddies have alien heads now, which is somewhat lame since they look stupid and are trying to make these criminals more personal by giving them biographies, but it's still SP vs. BT and it's not overdone. As for the looks of the sets, SP has changed its color scheme every time, and this time they look more like... well, Spartans piloting spacecraft with the color scheme from the original LEGO Space theme. Picture references:

Space Police I:

Space Police II:

Space Police III (note white vehicles only):

The biggest difference between SPIII and the previous incarnations is that Blacktron is grouped together with the Space Police, and the M-Tron guys aren't present anymore. Blacktron and M-Tron used to be their own themes alongside Space Police, with M-Tron being civilians. Also, PRISON PODS AREN'T IN EVERY SET ANYMORE:

Looking at that, Space Police I looks the best to me. Space Police III parts are far too custom, you can't do much with custom parts. The ships are very different in shape, the aliens look ugly and the flick-fire thing is pretty stupid, seriously LEGO, there is no fun in flicking missiles unless they do damage to what they hit(I'm talking bricks fly everywhere, not your controlled pretend damage.) So to me Space Police III is a failed continuation. Space Police II, looks to be a successful continuation except for the colour (I prefer the colours in Space Police I).

1. Personally, I prefer Space Police II, except for the fact that they are seriously WAY under armed. There largest ship has 2 weapons?

2.

really, it's changes we don't like to see. To be honest, Power Miners might actually be better than Rock Raiders, but we're just to stuck on RR to realize it.
I stand by that.

3. I recently sold all but four of the PM sets I had (I had about 12) on Ebay. I was tired of them taking up space. Made some money off 'em too... [Now that my little bit of randomness is done for the day...]

  • 3 months later...

You know... I would only have RR sets... If I weren't four years old ten years ago! Instead, I will make do with my Power Miners sets... I have already made a comic book with more of a backstory and a tie-in with RR (the Crystal King was a rock monster from Planet U, in my story). That, and I have made a whole army of MOCs from only my PM sets... so I think of Power Miners as Rock Raiders for those who can't get RR sets...

Rock Raiders is the better one. If you say otherwise you are not loyal to the RRU forum, and you will be eliminated, and the test will be terminated.

Though here's a solution, get everyone who thinks Rock Raiders is better, put them in an arena with everyone who thinks Power Miners is better, give them some guns, and the last one standing wins. This can also be applied to Twilight/Harry Potter and Os arguments.

HARRY POTTER FTW :af::P

OS arguments: no. Virus-writing competitions are the better option.

Virus writers are sad people that should be injected with the AIDS Ebola Herpex virus so they know how it feels when someone loses months of work due to their crappy little script. OS arguments can be solved with domestic violence because Apple users are elitist hipsters who don't exercise, Windows users are nonelitist dummies who can't deal with UAC without whining, and Linux users are elitist programmers who never go outside. Obviously, none of the people in any of these groups will be able to withstand a fist to the face unless they're been hitting the P90X.

I GO OUTSIDE :af:

Then again I'm more of a user than a programmer.

And, lunch time. bye.

Well, I don't own any of the Power Miners sets, but I have to say I prefer Rock Raiders. I don't know, the Power Miners just look too flashy for my tastes, whilst the Rock Raiders seem more 'down to Earth', pun not intended. Whilst considering the limitations of LEGO bricks, Rock Raider equipment seems 'used' so to speak, and I actually like that look, amongst other things. :axle:
