  1. 1. Have you ever submitted your own caption/photo for the contest?

  2. 2. Did you ever win?

You may remember this minifig rock concert if you've ever visited the LEGO website during the mid 2000s.

This was the display image for the Club Comic Captions. It was a monthly contest where club members could enter a caption for a blank image. At the end of the month, the winner and honorable mentions were revealed. It ran from June 2002 until 2008 IIRC. I managed to find some winners using the WayBack Machine, but there are still many more that I can't access.

The captions were often funny to read, but I was also really fascinated by some of the images. Below are some blank photos I could view.

Although I never won, I did submit a few of my own captions during 2007-08.

I wish I could show more of these. Unfortunately, they are no longer on the club site. :(

ah yeah, I remember this. The Lego Club site used to have some neat stuff.

Also, that last image on the left - the max/tim conspiracy continues

Yeah I remember these. Browsed through them all in one night at some point in 2007. :P I vaguely recall submitting one and it getting an honorable mention or something like that...

Is that a lego re-creation of the Monty Python dead parrot sketch there...?

I've never watched MP, but it might be. There's another entry with a capture from the classic "Knights of the Round Table" brickfilm somewhere, but I can't get back to the older entries to find it (I think it was from early 2003).

I thought I remembered seeing the earliest caption photos in a LEGO Magazine, so I checked your Brickshelf scans and found this page in Issue 2:

I think that LEGO provided images for the first few months before club members could upload their own.

I don't understand. The figure is clearly wearing Tim's shirt, but who is Max?

Actually that's a rather long story! Terrev has a nice summary here.

I'm ashamed to admit that I knew Sparks as "Marbleman" before I learned about the RR theme.

Also, I think that the Club Site introduced a newer version of the contest in 2012, but they abandoned it after the second month IIRC.
