Apparently it is possible to beat Pirate Skull Pass under a minute via a glitch. I have linked the video that demonstrates the glitch being used. I cannot seem to get it to work. Anyone else having any luck?

EDIT: I'm using the 2001 LR release version.

Hmm. That shouldn't happen.

 

Last time I checked, and LR doesn't get updates l405G.jpg, if you reversed across the finish line you would go down a lap (to Lap 0, I think or something), and you would have to go past the line again to make it go up, but the counter would be decrementing and incrementing (though invisibly).

 

That being said, I don't know how the checkpoints work exactly and you might be able to abuse them.

And here I was, pulling my hair out trying to actually beat Veronica Voltage for real on a couple of tracks. I could have just done this. Ah well.

 

This bug works in a lot of (all? Don't remember) tracks in the 1999 version. It was fixed in the 2001 version.

 

Is it necessary to complete the time race once first? I noticed that the video had the ghost car. I wonder if it simply fails to reset the other checkpoints.

As far as I know it works in any race mode at any time. I saw a guy use it to do a speedrun through all the circuits - it obviously cut out a lot of time.
