Does anyone else find it disturbing that in LEGO Island 2 you can sneak up and pinch people in their rear and they don't backhand you?

I always interpreted that as the islanders being startled by Pepper, not as them being pinched by him. Though, on a slightly related note, Pepper can get away with hitting the denizens of LEGO Island with pizza in IXS.

Nota Bene, all you United Rock Raiders, if you ever want to attract friends to our glorious site, tell them of the scintillating discussions we have over LEGO Media canon, concerning such fascinating subjects as Pepper's debated misanthropic behavior. :P

This is the correct way to view this, but everyone sees things differently. It does not help I have to hit the interact key to do this, and it does not happen on its own.

That's funny (not ha-ha, "funny," but gee, that's strange "funny.") I don't remember having to do this. I guess I should go back and check. I could see why it might seem like pinching, then.

If an NPC is facing away from you when you try to talk to them, and they haven't noticed you, they'll jump and turn to face you. You don't have to touch them or anything like that, just be within talking distance. I believe it's scripted into a few cutscenes as well. Not sure how you're getting something dirtier out of that.

He's making use of the fact that Pepper's arms reach out in the running animation.

Run towards people, press the talk key and it may appear that Pepper did something with the outstretched arm.

Out of context, the video makes it look like that. However, if memory does not fail me the same animation is used for other things as well and can be triggered in other ways.

Of course, if you want to believe that's what Pepper's doing, go ahead.

I believe I am mistaken, but wasn't there an animation for Pepper which involved him tapping people's shoulders?

*Thinks for a while* Okay, those are Brickster bots. Darn it.

I suppose you could >edit the cutscenes if you knew the animation's name. ;)

You mean make Pepper do the "tap-on-islander-shoulder" animation?

Yes. Maybe someone could look into the cutscene files further to see what the limits are.

Would be interesting to see this:

Turn the Infomaniac into the Infopediac and make Pepper fly up, land on his head, and spin on it quickly.

I think Pepper's a bit of a hypocrite to enjoy doing that to others when he hates it being done to him...

That mustached man exudes malevolence. Poor pepper.
