LEGO to Minecraft Collection

Drill Master

Hello everyone, and welcome to my project called the LEGO to Minecraft Collection. What is it you ask? Well basically I create LEGO bricks in Minecraft from the instruction booklet of a random LEGO Set. All the pieces are on a preset and accurate scale (mostly accurate) according to my calculations. After all the bricks are created, I then follow the instruction booklet that I've downloaded and, with the help of WE SPC, create the LEGO model in Minecraft.

I will not reveal the Set that I have chosen until the end of the final build, but feel free to guess along the way. I will say, that as the first build in the collection, this one is a small Set. I will reveal no more until the final build.

Things to note:

I'll work on this every night or so, depending on if I have the time.

I'll upload every few days or as I see fit to do so.

I am trying to be as detailed as I can be with the bricks. As you can see below, I even build the underside of each brick.

I will follow the color palette as close as I can.

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION***

I did some measuring, and if you want me to build a set, the build height allows for 63 plates stacked up, with the top being a flat tile. Make sure that the set does not exceed 62 plates tall. (I say 62 so it allows the studs to be shown on the top bricks.)

Hope you all enjoy this project. Any questions? Ask away!

BUILD 1 STATS:

Total Progress Completion: 63.34%

Piece Completion: 100.00%

NOTES: The Pieces are all built and ready for assembly! The only problems I had were getting the 2x2x2 red cone piece and the 2x2x1 transparent curved piece into shape, but I'm satisfied with the results.

Model Completion: 26.67%

Visual Updates:

I will personally send you an Explorien minifig if you recreate one of their sets (and one in specific). Are minifigures also going to be included in the project?

This set does not include any minifigs, but yes I plan to do builds with minifigs in them. I will have to test build the pieces to get a good fit to them, but once that's done, yes.

Also, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say you want me to do the Explorien Starship, right?

New important information has been added to the top post.

How are you going to assemble the bricks together? By cloning them ?

I can try to help you for the models if you want. I have a MC account.

I'm using WE SPC (World Edit: Single Player Commands) to move the pieces to their assigned spots after I finish building them.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm on my own for this project.

No problem.

Can you plan to find a way to make a visible separation between the bricks. Otherwise it will look too perfect and we wont be able to distinguish the bricks used. You can also change the bricks colours to separate them.

Anymay, it's a nice project and I hope it will look nice.(The first bricks are already nice :) )

More progress has been made in the top post. Please feel free to ask questions.

UPDATE

--------------------------------------------------------

Rob has made the request for me to build an Explorien set, which will be BUILD 2. I have the instruction booklet downloaded and queued in the top post.

BUILD 1 is still under piece construction and going nicely. I'm currently working on it while I type this up. Expect another Visual Update soon.

Also, if you would like me to build a set, let me know below. REMEMBER: The set must be no taller than 62 plates. Please measure beforehand.

How about for BUILD 3 you recreate the first Lego Minecraft set in Minecraft (if that even makes sense). I don't have the set so I don't know if it exceeds 62 plates but my suggestion is that if it does exceed the 62 plate limit then just do the top-half.

Other than that I look forward to the completion of BUILD 1.

All non-transparent bricks for BUILD 1 have been completed. There are 6 transparent bricks left to build, and then the model building can begin.

The Pieces are all complete! I've added some notes under the Piece Completion section in the top post.

Now on to Stage 2! The Assembly!

NOTICE

--------

I apologize for the lack of progress lately, but I've ran into a few minor complications.

1. WorldEdit doesn't allow for rotating objects around their x or z axis. For instance, If I built a domino standing upright, I can't use WE to lay it down as if it was pushed over. I'll have to manually rebuild the pieces on their side that require rotating, but I'll do that when the time comes to use those pieces.

2. I've ran out of internet for the month (kinda spent it playing online and such) which means any visual updates will have to be uploaded between 2 and 8 AM EST (internet off hours usage is still ok) so there's that.

3. I forgot that WE counted Air as a block when copying objects, which when a plate is placed on top of another plate, the lower plate loses it's studs. I'll have to replace them as I go.

That's pretty much it, I should be able to get it done within this week, no later than Sunday.

Any questions?

Oh also I'm typing this from my phone, which doesn't like typing on this site, so I don't know how this will come out.

New visual update has been added...

The build is going well...

Due to my phone being a complete piece of ****, it took me almost an hour to edit that picture into the top post... I'm going to go play more EarthBound before I start throwing stuff. I am very ticked off right now so I need to cool down.

This phone is good for nothing... can't even edit a stupid fricking post without it screwing up everything...

Are you aware of the existance of MCedit? That program can do all the stuff you need, it can rotate objects on which axis you want and can copy blocks without taking air in consideration.

Yes I am well aware. However, I'm more accustomed to using WE. I'll stick with using WE until Build 1 is complete , then I might think about getting MCEdit.

  • 3 months later...

Are there any updates comming soon ?

Yeah I should probably get back to this. I've put it off for other projects, plus now I need to get SPC for 1.8 if such an update exists. Yeah I'll probably get back to this soon. Thanks for the reminder. :)
