Mixels!

Seeing as Fushigisaur has made us all even more aware (and interested) in LEGO's new Mixel line, I've bought myself a few and decided to watch a bit of the "show" (if one could even call the cartoons such).

So, I've made it my responsibility to make a thread for Mixels discussion. What do you think of the "story" (loosely speaking here), and the models themselves?

Personally, I think that while this series seems like a cash-in by LEGO and Cartoon Network, it's not the WORST idea I've seen (*COUGHBEN10COUGH*), and the pieces are highly reusable. My main qualm would be that the series 1 Mixels would be more memorable than the other series (although they do look cooler)

Also, Flain looks NOTHING like his cartoon counterpart. But that's my opinion. What's yours?

Well I have already dumped my opinions on the matter on anyone who will listen (and many who would rather not) but I will just reiterate:

HOLY CRAP THE PIECES. It's like LEGO decided to take all of their most useful elements, throw them in a bag and sell them for super cheap. And they did. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?

Another thing worth noting:

It's like these sets came out ten years ago in a CREATOR series. With fitting articulation for back then, too.

I decided to pick up one of them for the pieces (Zaptor), but he's SO adorable that I can't bear taking him apart!   I'll probably get Volectro or Zorch the next time I go to my local Lego store in Stratford (actually, I'll try to not get any until I've got Parisian Resturaunt, as I have been saving up for a while).

Oh, and I haven't seen the TV show yet, but I've heard from a friend at school that its... unusual.  :/  I'll have a look at it though.

I haven't bought any Mixels *just yet*, but with the incredible elements they have I'm planning on it. The weird thing is that while they're available on the online LEGO Store, they're nowhere to be seen in Australian retail stores...weird.

I need to get some mixels... they're just too much of a bag of best parts to not buy. Not only that, i just like mixels for some reason, not just because they have good parts. :P

I don't really understand these "Mixel" sets. Collectable minifigures, fair enough... but Mixels look like they got their boxes of spare parts, mashed them together and put some eyes on them.

What are they supposed to be? Some sort of animals? monsters? robots? all?

A bunch of weird freaks packed with tiny little black freaks.

Really, I think the point is that they're just a mishmash of interesting parts for MOC builders. Apparently there's a TV series or at least some kind of continuity with these guys being like Raving Rabbids, but I dunno.

Yep, I just see them as cheap booster packs for great parts. Albeit many of the parts have a somewhat limited range of applications, given the animal/natural appearance and function of them (joints, rocks and eyes for example).
