Windowed Blackscreen?

Hello guys, I just tried to install and play the game on Win7, but whenever I try to start the game, it opens in a window, which is basically just black and doesn't react anymore. I can hear the sound of the Lego Media logo and the intro, but I can't do anything. Then I have to close the game using the Task Manager.

I already tried running the game in different compatability modes and as an administrator, but neither helped.

P.S: I just tried running the game in 256 colours mode and I got no window this time, but the screen still stayed black.

P.P.S: I also get a blackscreen when trying to start RR. Maybe there is a link between both problems?

Have you tried running it in Windows XP compatibility mode? That usually does wonders for me.

EDIT: Nevermind, sorry my mind skipped that bit of the paragraph.

Funnily enough that's the only mode I didn't try, since I read that the game is not working with WinXP, I'll try it right now.

P.S: Nope, didn't help either.

It sounds like a problem with the .avi files that play at the beginning of the game. For LEGO Rock Raiders, you need this video codec for the movies to work. If this is indeed the issue, it would likely fix both LRR and Alpha Team.

Nope, installing the codec didn't help with Alpha Team nor RR.

Do you have integrated graphics on your processor by any chance? If you can, try switching to integrated. I don't know how these games play with GeForce cards, but they wont run on my Radeon; I have to switch to integrated.

I had problems installing and playing that game too.

If I remember correctly, all I had to do was run it as administrator.

I also have compatibility mode for win98 enabled, this was needed to get audio in-game.

Then again, this was a while ago so I might have forgotten something.

P.S. I'm running it on a GeForce card too. However, for all I know running it as admin might give the program access to switch over to integrated graphics by itself.

(RR advice only)

Try running it it windowed mode. To do this, change your colour thingy to 16-bit (usually by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting 'Personalise,' then mucking around from there) and run the executable directly. Switch it to windowed mode and see if that works.

Still sounds like a problem with the movies. If you can, find the folder in program files that contains the games' video (for example, for Stunt Rally it's C:Program Files (x86)LEGO MediaLEGO Stunt Rallyartvideo) and either move the videos or rename them.

Worked for RR! It seems to work normally now

But I couldn't do it for Alpha Team, because the game seems to take the video directly from the CD-ROM, which I can't edit...

I might be able to find my No-CD patch for you, that could work. Could a moderator check and see if the file is still uploaded somewhere? Otherwise, I'll remake it when I get the chance, it was a useful tool anyways.

So what happens if you just leave the intro running and wait for it to finish?

A giant amount of nothingness. The screen just stays black and there isn't even the sound of the "Press [insert button here] to start" screen. Even if the game worked normally after the intro sequence, it would be pretty annoying to have to stare at black screen for a minute or so before I'd be able to play.
