Hello,

I am trying to install LRR on my PC. (Windows 8) I have read the troubleshooting page and the Win. 8 thread, I just have some questions about them.

- If I install DirectX6, will I still need the missing d3drm.dll, or will does DirectX 6 have it.

- Does installing DirectX 6 overwrite or mess with my current DirectX in any way?

- Where can I find "Reduce Colour Mode"? Is it in-game?

- On the LRR disc, I am seeing Dsetup.dll, Dsetup16.dll, amd Dsetup32.dll, do I use Dsetup16.dll?

Thanks!

You'll probably still need it.

Nope. Not from my experience.

- Where can I find "Reduce Colour Mode"? Is it in-game?

Create a shortcut directly to the .exe. Right-click your new shortcut and select 'Properties. Then, under 'Compatibility' or something you should find 'Reduce Color Mode.' (While you're there, it's generally a good idea to tell it to run in compatibility mode)

Anyone know why the in-game voices wouldn't work?
Did the sound work anywhere else? (not talking about the videos, more like menu sounds) Other than that, if the sound works on the menu but not there... Have you got a whole load of sounds in your Data folder? Check to see if some of those are corrupted or something went kaboom... (Under the Streamed folder, you should have Failure, InGame, Names, Objectiv, Success, Training, and four other sounds.

It could also be that the in-game volumes are on 0 - press 'Esc' and look under the Options menu/

Create a shortcut directly to the .exe.

Has it ever occurred to you that you can do all that WITHOUT creating a shortcut? Really, think of how stupid it would be if you couldn't.

Creating a shortcut also makes time a lot easier - Kepler's probably going to make one anyway. It also means that he can use the -testlevels function and the other ones.

You're missing the point. If you're going to go locate LegoRR.exe, then why not change the compatibility settings while you're there? In fact, aren't Standard and Reduced shortcuts put on the desktop and start menu/screen? Unless your copy didn't do that for some reason.

It also means that he can use the -testlevels function and the other ones.

Now, who wouldn't want that?
