Missing Directx 3D accelerator, game won't run.

So, yeah, basically what the title says. I've successfully installed the game, and I've also gotten my hands on the d3drm file as well and put that in. Now, whenever I try to run the game it claims I'm missing the aforementioned file.

Anyone got any ideas?

That d3drm.dll is not a Dx accelerator. It's part of DirectX that doesn't ship with windows anymore. If you have the disk, you can try installing the DX that's on that (DX 6). Otherwise, if installing a normal version of DX (DX 9 in this case) doesn't work, I've got nothing else.

I'm aware, I was merely pointing out where I was standing at the moment.

I will attempt this, and report back with my findings

You know, some system specs would be appreciated.

LRR runs differently on every single computer setup and it's hard for us to troubleshoot if we don't know what hardware and OS you have. There are known issues with Radeon graphics cards. Windows 8 causes loads of issues. The version of the game itself can cause things too, but I see you have the version that requires the disk. You might also try putting d3drm.dll in the C:/Windows/system folder. I have it in there for some reason, but I don't think it needs to be in system32.

I remember reading that LRR doesn't run right on Windows 8 unless you play it in windowed mode. I looked up a few topics that show you how to play the game in windowed mode -- the links are below.

You might want to try out the Cafeteria tool which will let you change the windowed resolution: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/4521-cafeteria-07/

You will have to prepare your game for modding if you want to increase the game's resolution through Cafeteria, so follow the instructions here unless you don't mind playing in 640x480: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/3594-beginners-guide-to-modding-rock-raiders/

Copy the entire Rock Raiders folder to your desktop and try running it from there. It fixed the problem the last guy I helped had. Plus, if you mod that one you always have an unmodded backup.

Well. I've already modded the one version I have installed. Might that have something to do with it?

It's Baz's mod, by the way.

EDIT: Running it from the desktop didn't work.

2'ND EDIT: I've reinstalled the game, so now it's just regular LRR. With the extras that Cirevam recommended. I'm still struggling with a way to run the game in windowed mode, though.
