Geardirector
So, yeah, basically what the title says. I've successfully installed the game, and I've also gotten my hands on the d3drm file as well and put that in. Now, whenever I try to run the game it claims I'm missing the aforementioned file. Anyone got any ideas?
TheDoctor
That d3drm.dll is not a Dx accelerator. It's part of DirectX that doesn't ship with windows anymore. If you have the disk, you can try installing the DX that's on that (DX 6). Otherwise, if installing a normal version of DX (DX 9 in this case) doesn't work, I've got nothing else. Geardirector
That d3drm.dll is not a Dx accelerator.'' I'm aware, I was merely pointing out where I was standing at the moment. If you have the disk, you can try installing the DX that's on that (DX 6). Otherwise, if installing a normal version of DX (DX 9 in this case) doesn't work, I've got nothing else. I will attempt this, and report back with my findings
Geardirector
Well, it didn't work. Anyone else got any ideas?
Jimbob
I'm no expert with these help topics, but could you post a screenshot of your install folder?
Geardirector
Could you elaborate? I'm a little lost as to what you're referring to.
Biorune
Go to C:Program Files (x86)LEGO MediaGamesRock Raiders or C:Program FilesLEGO MediaGamesRock Raiders (whatever it is for you) and take a screenshot. Jimbob

Cirevam
You know, some system specs would be appreciated. LRR runs differently on every single computer setup and it's hard for us to troubleshoot if we don't know what hardware and OS you have. There are known issues with Radeon graphics cards. Windows 8 causes loads of issues. The version of the game itself can cause things too, but I see you have the version that requires the disk. You might also try putting d3drm.dll in the C:/Windows/system folder. I have it in there for some reason, but I don't think it needs to be in system32. If you want immediate help, there's always the shoutbox at the top of the main page, and we have a Skype chat that you can be invited to. Plus, it's Labor Day weekend in the US, so many people are probably on a small vacation or something.
Geardirector
Apologies, truly Anyway, my OS is windows 8, I'll have to get back to you on the graphics card, though.
Cirevam
I remember reading that LRR doesn't run right on Windows 8 unless you play it in windowed mode. I looked up a few topics that show you how to play the game in windowed mode -- the links are below. You might want to try out the Cafeteria tool which will let you change the windowed resolution: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/4521-cafeteria-07/ You will have to prepare your game for modding if you want to increase the game's resolution through Cafeteria, so follow the instructions here unless you don't mind playing in 640x480: http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/3594-beginners-guide-to-modding-rock-raiders/ http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/3533-guide-run-rock-raiders-in-windowed-mode/ http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/4788-windows-8-can-only-run-rgb-emulation-very-slow/ http://www.rockraidersunited.org/topic/4568-lego-rock-raiders-on-surface-prowindows-8/
TheDoctor
Copy the entire Rock Raiders folder to your desktop and try running it from there. It fixed the problem the last guy I helped had. Plus, if you mod that one you always have an unmodded backup. CuppaTea
Geardirector
Well. I've already modded the one version I have installed. Might that have something to do with it? It's Baz's mod, by the way. EDIT: Running it from the desktop didn't work. 2'ND EDIT: I've reinstalled the game, so now it's just regular LRR. With the extras that Cirevam recommended. I'm still struggling with a way to run the game in windowed mode, though.
