First. I have an alienware m15x laptop, windows7 home premium 8gb RAM nvidia 240m gtx. 64bit system from 2009ish i think.

Anyway. I recently bought a brand new disc. like sealed brand new. 1999. Something makes my CD not able to be read locally. Just this CD though. not Star Wars: Forces of corruption for example. So what i did, was take the CD, go to my brother's computer, put it in the drive, burn an image of it, save it via flash drive, move it to my computer, then install it from the image that i mounted. That all worked perfectly. Whenever i try to run the game though i get the PLEASE INSERT CD PRESS OK and whatnot. I have it in 800x600 256 colors, compatibility with win 98 and the D3DRM.dll in the proper location in C:/Windows Ive read almost every topic here and none of them had the same kind of thing that i'm experiencing. Does anyone have ideas? I would be eternally thankful. thanks for the time.

I don't really know how to help with this, all that I do know is that LEGO Rock Raiders does NOT like virtual drives at all and will spit at them and I don't think anyone has gotten around it yet.

I've never gotten games that use disc-based DRM to work off an image. You could try changing drive letters, but that probably won't work. Ultimately, you should just get a new CD drive, either a replacement for the stock drive or an external unit.
