Lego Creator, A Hard Kill

Does anyone know how to unistall this game in win 7?

Some days ago I installed this game out of nostalgia, but it keeps crashing on me and it's starting to annoy me.

I know the obvious answer would be to run the uninstall file but windows keeps telling me it can't open it...

And then, I guess I could always erase anything that has to do with the game on the hard disk, but that could be potentially dangerous. After all, what if I erase something I shouldn't?

So help, anyone?

(By the way, I didn't a discussion of Lego creator inc lassic games so I posted my question here)

Ah, comrade, you shouldn't worry. Sometimes programs fail to uninstall, so doing it manually is the best way to go about doing this operation.

Simply delete the LEGO Creator folder (should be in the LEGO Media folder in Program Files or Program Files (x86)), and that'll be the end of that.

Aaaaand done! Thanks. I think I still have an old laptop running windows 98 or XP lying around somewhere in my house, so I'll probably install it there.

No problem, hope you get it working and have fun.

Welcome to RRU, comrade, and enjoy your stay. I'm hoping you'll be here for the long run...

I think I had the same problem once... But on a computer with XP. It wouldn't go away from the list of installed programs, and when you told it to uninstall it, it couldn't.

That's not the best advice around, Extreme, but in this case in which the installer will not run, it's the only thing you can really do.

I would just like to add to the "uninstallation" process. All Creator games, even the demos, create registry strings. If you really want the game gone from your computer, you will need to delete those too.

Open regedit.exe, and, searching Keys, Values, and Data, search for "LEGO Creator" (minus the quotes). You will find a bunch of stuff, so don't delete everything you see. Examples of things not to delete include phrases such as Last DirectX program access, last DirectInput program access, last some windows system stuff program access, as well as some other things I can't remember. You will find a bunch of strings in one place (On Win7 x64, HKLMSOFTWAREWow6432Node), all which relate to Creator. These are the strings you can safely delete, as they were created by Creator itself and not by Windows.

Of course, before you do this, you should backup your entire registry in case something goes wrong, or if you'd rather not do this, you can just leave them be, and they will do no harm ;)

Heh, funny you should mention that.

I had CREATOR: Harry Potter on my craptop, uninstalled it later, and it was STILL there.

Of course, i fixed it.

I didn't say it was. I was simply giving him a simple fix. Chill your t***, forgetting to clean the registry of a couple entries about a LEGO isn't going to make the computer explode.

I'd have to agree here, however MANY registry strings could cause lag on older systems.

Best thing to do for games like that is to run a virtual machine, with Win98, or WinXP.

No registry blobs, and it doesn't really matter if it won't uninstall. Just delete the VM when you don't want to play anymore, and backup your saves if you care.
