"MOST USELESS" = that's rather a negative view!  They are all different, in use and purpose and ability, there is a bit of trying to make every part of the range useful, the marketing team insist that we show and use all the range, which becomes a design problem!  Then you need progression in the game, basic units with low ability need to become 'better' and more useful. But make them TOO good and you have a magic bullet that quickly becomes the one and only tool to do everything. That means that the better drill sometimes has to be on a slower moving vehicle, to prevent it from becoming TOO good. the player then has to choose over speed of movement Vs drill time.   These are everyday gameplay/testing decisions, hopefully you will get to try this out with the beta tests and have your input then

I believe the idea was that the Hover Scout was useless because it didn't do anything, compared to the Tunnel Scout which can at least transport raiders across water and lava. Anything with a laser was somewhat useless, unless there was a recharge seam in the level. Sure you can use it for defense, but the Small/Large Mobile Laser Cutters mined walls far too slowly to justify expending crystals on something that can be accomplished with other resources. Of course this was a kids game and min/maxing isn't an issue if you're just having fun.

That's basically what fully upgraded Small Transport Trucks were.

And hover scouts were basically the one vehicle that did absolutely nothing.

The hover scout makes anyone driving it look badass.

Laser Cutters takes ages (from what I recall) and unnecessarily use up energy crystals.

Gots to collect dem energy crystals.

Fluffy Cupcake

Was it the tunnel scout or hover scout that couldn't travel over liquids? Well whichever one, I find that to be the most useless.

It was the hover scout, and I agree there. That and the loader dozer (It was so freaking slow!).

i was going to say the LMLC but with baz's mod it can go over lava and in some of his levels that is nice to get around with still having some drilling power
