Netbattle Release: V0.2
Yippee! I just finished fixing some last bugs, so it is time for a new version bump of my game
I hope you like it, and let me know what you think!
Changelog:
- Removed the <options> section from the map file format. Now you are not required anymore to specify the dimensions of your map, and the number of features you added to your map. The program will automatically read these from the map and feature specifications.
- Added a game start UI (see below)
- fixed a bug where units are not reset in the beginning of a turn
- fixed that the effect of a turbo weapon was not available in the same turn. Now you can take advantage of the boost if the unit has not moved previously in that turn.
- fixed letters partially dissappearing from the text boxes in buttons (the bottom parts of letter like "g" would not be visible)
- fixed missing wordwrap in message window
- added friendly fire
- fixed map operation weapons: the attack range now covers all squares, instad of only enabled squares, and fixed that the map could not be edited by using the weapon
The new game setup UI
This new milestone removes the need to write a costum script xml file, and gives a user interface to do it instead.
When starting the game, you first need to select a map:
You can find a sample map in the install location of netBattle/maps.
Next, you need to configure the players.
Add players using the + button, or remove them by clicking the -.
You can select the colour of the units, and give them a name (this is Player 1, Player 2, ... by default).
Finally, you need to select a unit pack file. This is a list of units that will be available in the game for all players.
You can find the default pack, containing the classic nightfall incident units in the /units/ directory.
Now the board iwll appear, with a list of units on the left. On the game board, you will see locations marked with a number. The locations with a 1 are for the first player, the ones with 2 are for the second player, etc. To place a unit, mouse over a unit icon in the list, until the hand icon appears, and then simply drag it to the start location. When you are done, press the "Done" button in the top of the screen.
When all players have finished setting up their units, the game will start
