Explanation of the game

I figured it might be useful to give some more info on how the game works, since the game itself does not provide any kind of help :P

netBattle (or "the nightfall incident remake", if you please), is a strategical board game. You have a certain number of players, and each player has some units on the board.

In a turn, a player moves a unit to a desired location, and either uses one of the weapons of the unit, or does nothing. Using the weapon of a unit will cause the unit to turn into a "ready" mode, causing that the unit can not be selected anymore until the start of the player's next turn.

When a unit walks, it gains an extra sector in its tail, which represents the unit's health. Enemy units can use weapons against the unit to get rid of these sectors. When a unit looses all its sectors, it is removed from the game board, and will never be seen again. :P

The weapon of the unit can be of many different types. There are weapons that can alter the game board (turn squares on or off), kill sectors from a unit's tail, or can boost the amount of steps a unit can take in its turn.

The objective of the game is to kill all the units from the enemy player.

I hope this makes sense :). Otherwise, try the original spybotics game, since that one got a nice tutorial to get you started.

Since my game aims to be a clone of this one, what they say in the tutorial is also true for my game :)

Note, thanks for the link to SpyBotics; I was a huge fan, even when they cut the product line, and it's refreshing to see it still here.

The game sound intreasting. What are you coding it in?

Good Work Bartvbl. Keep it up and get "Employee of the Non-Existant RRU Month!"

Thanks man ^^

I am coding it in ActionScript 3, using the AIR runtime (I needed to get rid of the security sandbox, to be able to access the desktop, create new windows, and leave options for online play open).

If you want to have a try, here is what I have so far:

http://www.rockraidersunited.org/index.php?/files/file/86-netbattle-v01/ :)

The game is playable, but you need to edit the script.xml file if you want to be able to set up the game. So that will be the next thing to get working on ;)
