1366 x 768? Really?

Why a gaming laptop? What games are you planning to play on it?

What screen size are you looking for? That one's a 13 inch.

Im planning to play steam games. The pcs that I own are super slow and can barely handle Lego worlds.  I just want something small that won't take up to much space.

Steam games can vary hugely in performance needed... For example, HL1 and GTA5 are on Steam. Both are very different in their needs...

Also... Any reason for a laptop instead of a desktop?

Because I don't have any space in my house to put a desktop.  My family owns 8 computers, 5 of them are windows 7 and the other 3 are apple computers.

Well. The next best one I found was an MSI GE62 Apache, it's quite near the $1000 price point, but you'd really have to crunch the numbers to compare the two, doesn't necessarily seem like a bad buy. Still, if there is any way you could fit a desktop somewhere, I strongly urge it, you can build a gaming PC for much cheaper than buying a gaming laptop. Quick Edit: I want to warn you that gaming on a laptop, any gaming laptop tends to have poor battery life.

Might wanna look at this video, but like others say, I'd highly suggest building a desktop PC instead. you can make a decent one for under 600$

How are there 8 PCs in your house but none to play games on or upgrade?

There are 3 PCs that we play on and there all Win 7 and if I want to download something I have to go to my dad. My dad says if I buy my own pc I can do whatever on it. All 3 of the Win 7 are really slow, 32-bit, and only have 4 Gigs of space. Our computers can barely stand Lego Worlds. My dad doesn't want me to replace any of them.

HOW DO YOU LIVE WITH 4GB???

I have 5TB and will probably still run out of room soon...

He probably means RAM, not storage space.

Well considering he said space after 4GB, I assumed it was HDD space, though it could be what's left out the entire HDD.

Yeah that makes a lot more sense :P

In terms of computer recommendations though, i'd do the surface route if you're looking for something portable. You can always get an External HDD/SSD if the standard storage isn't enough.

I would tend to attempt to set up a desktop machine (translate: box with monitor & the cables everywhere), simply because it's far easier to uprgrade-as-you-go (adding RAM, providing you've got one slot free, is a cinch).

Also, adding more HDD = more space = is really, really easy. And you can do it years after you actually bought the thing. USB external drives would work for a laptop, but if you use them on a regular basis you might get something finicky.

On the other hand a laptop... well, if something goes, it's very difficult to replace. There's also an overheating problem (especially with the charger!)....

... but it's very easy to move around.

Something on 32-bit or 64-bit: That's really a rather meaningless label. It doesn't actually matter - in any case, it's the OS. Yes, 64-bit computers are faster than 32-bit but not really because of the 64. It's the fact that a 32-bit machine CANNOT HAVE more than 4GB of RAM. And a 64-bit computer CANNOT HAVE LESS than 4GB of RAM.

My laptop has 2 GB of RAM, runs Vista, and handles Steam games.

Okay, I mean "handles Worms Armageddon, made in 1999, as well as Freedom Planet, which is designed to be retro and can just handle Terraria."

Saying "Steam games" is basically like saying "I'm going to buy toys." What type of toys? Lego? Big fat scoot-around-on vehicles? Mega-[PLEASE TALK PROPERLY]?

There's a vast variety of games out there.

As far as LW goes, something low-end will do - I could run that thing on my ancient, 10-year-old (yes, it would have had its tenth birthday this year) computer. Just fiddle with performance settings (those are there for a reason) & you should be fine.

One last point: Consider shipping costs. The cheapest graphics card I can find in NZ is $300 NZD. (A Nvidia 660 was around $350). It's ridiculously expensive. I hope you live in Europe or America...

A 32-bit OS can have more than 4GB of RAM. It just won't use the extra RAM.

A 64-bit OS can have less than 4GB of RAM. Nothing stopping it.

Some programs now REQUIRE a 64-bit OS.

You'll encounter problems with 16-bit programs on a 64-bit OS. This affects the installers of some games.

Nope!

We plugged in one 8GB stick of RAM into our 32-bit Win7 OS and the DOS startup decided to go kaput.

I'll go with this.

Maybe it's a bad RAM stick, or your motherboard doesn't support that much RAM. The latter isn't as likely.

xD Will Windows 7 even install on a 4gb hard drive?

Perhaps the new stick wasn't behaving well with the old one(s). It's always a good idea to use the same model RAM sticks for your computer rather than mix-and-matching.

1) "Maybe it's a bad RAM stick"

Can't be - works a treat on my 64-bit computer now :D

2) "your motherboard doesn't support that much RAM"

Can't be that either - we were using the new motherboardm not the old one

3)  " Perhaps the new stick wasn't behaving well with the old one(s)"

No, we turned the computer off, stuck the new ones in (along with a motherboard, PSU, and CPU), so no mix-and-matching of RAM at least

Literally the only thing we changed between the computer fussing about starting (which I theorized was due to its 32-bit OS) & then deciding to start was the installation of a 2TB C:\ HDD which had a 64-bit OS on it.

yes it does install on a 4GB hard drive... if you have starter edition and you're very careful.

Three motherboards ago, I had a rig that'd support up to 8GB... but only if it was 2 4GB sticks or four 2GB sticks.  8GB sticks wouldn't be recognized.  It was due to the chipset used.
