What we needed

wow! it's been 3493475345938 years since the last entry,

but hey, here's one.

I think LEGO Island 2 deserved more attention, I mean, it deserved a better game than the one we have, currently,

if only we could "hack" the Island Xtreme Stunts engine into the game...

It would be nice to make the "LEGO Island 2 as it should've been" game, maybe as a fangame made with Unity or something (even though I know nothing about it)

Another Idea I've had is for an EarthBound-like RPG version of LI2, based mostly on the Game Boy Color version, this one I could actually make.

So, what do you think?

LEGO Island 2 got plenty of attention for a LEGO video game, LEGO Media just had absurd standards for how quickly they expected people to get good games out the door. LEGO Island 2 was one of the more ambitious games in scope and it paid the price.

Island Xtreme is LEGO Island 2 done right in a lot of ways. It takes a lot of the concepts that they didn't have time to realize in 2 and polishes them off. The key, I think, is that IXS didn't overextend itself by trying to explore multiple worlds (and it also had the benefit of knowledge from experiences on 2).

Lego Island 2 on PC would've been a much more amazing game if it were like the GBA version, just in 3D. But we got a rushed game that had switched developers previously, creating a mess.

Even though IXS was also developed by Silicon Dreams, looking at the credits I've noticed that it had completely different people working on it. Maybe that explains why it's so much more polished.

this is why I think IXS is amazing, and that its a shame LI2 didn't go the same way,

as much as I like IXS, the Island on it... I don't think it is as good as the Island on the first 2 games. And as you said, IXS didn't feature multiple worlds...

I'm sorry to bring your (admittedly good) idea down to earth, but I don't think it'll be that simple to port the IXS engine over to LEGO Island 2. I don't know how the inner workings of LEGO Island Xtreme Stunts or LEGO Island 2 but I think you'd have to either make modifications to the engine or to LEGO Island 2 in order to add/remove functions that LEGO Island 2 probably isn't compatible with (for example, how would you incorporate the mechanic in IXS of changing your car from road to air to boat and back again? You'd either need to add the correct assets into LI2 for the mechanic to work OR you could take that function out of the IXS engine).

If anyone attempts to do this, good luck.

LEGO Island 2 - Remastered Edition.

I like the sound of that. Taking what is poor and recreating it to make it good.

@Ace; If LEGO was to make an official remastered version of Island (1st) it would have all my yes.

I really just would like a "return" to LEGO Island, even if its TT Games using their same engine again, at least we get to see Pepper Roni again...
