Today, I tried to MOC for the first time. I've never moc'd before, always just building to play.

The result was nothing like what I was planning, and I have no idea how good it is.

They're great, very imaginative and reminiscent of BIONICLE (if a little colourful :P but hey, a combo of all 6 habitats is a cool concept). I especially like the combat shield and pipe on the humanoid figure, and the boxing-like hammers on the insectoid creature.

Colouration is because I only have a few bonkles... all of which are different colours.

The insectoid was modeled after the praying mantis, which has a weird sort of double claw thingy.

Other than that, they look... interesting. Slightly too colourful for my liking: the one on the left I'd have removed the blue, and the one on the right I'd just remove the green, except that most of it is green. l405G.jpg Still, I can't say these aren't vivid.

Anyway, I'm going to start calling them Bit A and Bit B because they don't have names. l405G.jpg Bit A is the brown-chesplated knight thingy on the left, and Bit B is the four-legged lime green mantis on the right.

The tail on Bit A is interesting. I thought it was a third leg (well maybe two legs) at first, but it obviously isn't. The body's quite well formed, and I like the usage of the Vahki chestplate. The shield's iffy by shield standards, but shields have had a bad history against hammers and heavy objects in general. l405G.jpg

Bit B looks like he's (she's? l405G.jpg) about to fall over, especially in the last picture. The head is a good use of a Rahkshi foreleg, although I'd have swapped out the beige connector for a blue one because it's stronger and I'm guessing you don't want it rotating there (not that it could and in any case the blue one would still be better).

The sword on Bit A is meh. Yes, it's a nice sword. However, it's a long way out from his hand and swords are generally very heavy to lift. l405G.jpg I'd have put a bar coming out the back: only 2-4 long, but still a bar and still generally nicer IMO.

Despite my critiques, they do look bright and the shape is very nice. Well done!

Colourfulness is due to lack of parts.  I can't fix that.

The shield was designed more as a buckler.  I probably should have used a round bit for that...

I agree on the sword.

Beige connector doesn't really matter, because of how the part is it can't rotate anyhow.  There's a 2 stud rod (that sounded way less dirty in my mind) that acts as a pin in that leg-piece.
