My MISB collection

I have posted in this topic before, showing part of my LEGO collection. Since then, my collection has grown. Now I take a break from buying vintage LEGO sets and sell some. I can't just constantly buy sets without making money. And for your information, I have a job to finance my hobby too (and save up for university later).

But some bricks of my collection have never seen daylight in years/decades. They are known as the MISB sets. I 'inherited' some MISB sets from my dad and some which I collected through the years that passed.

Below in spoiler tags are the 14 MISB sets that I own. I might save them and never open them, I might sell them or I might open them eventually and build them, who knows.

In the image are pictured:

  • Exploriens #6815 Hovertron
  • Launch Command #6516 Moon Walker
  • Ice Planet 2002 #1731 Snow Scooter
  • Paradisa #2870 Paradisa Barbecue
  • Race #6400 Go-Kart
  • UFO #3012 Space Hover
  • Leisure #1730 Snow Scooter
  • UFO #2847 UFO Flyer
  • City Center #6498 Go-Kart
  • Blacktron Future Generation #6878 Sub Orbital Guard
  • Ice Planet 2002 #6879 Blizzard Baron
  • UFO #6999 Cyber Saucer
  • Trains #4561 Railway Express
  • Exploriens #6982 Explorien Starship

All the sets were sold in the Netherlands at the time, and what I bought was from Dutch sellers.

I bought the #6815 and #6516 for €5 each not long ago. I stumled upon them by accident, and figured that it would be nice to add the Hovertron to my Exploriens sets. After all, I am an Exploriens fan. The Moon Walker was from the same seller, and I couldn't leave that one behind.

The small squarish boxes (#1731; #2870; #6400; #3012; #1730; #2847; #6498) were collected by my dad in the late nineties. He had more of these small sets, but gave those away to me and other family members when I was younger.

About one year ago I bought the #6878 and #6879 for a total of €25. I guess that the seller had no idea of the rarity of the sets.

I funded the #6999 with part of my pocket money back in 2011. For €40 I bought a special edition of this set; you get a life-size UFO mask along with the Cyber Saucer.

Then we get to the train set (#4561). It was offered for €150. A big price, but I just got my birthday money, and I was looking for a train set, as I didn't have one (yet).

I saved the best for last: the Explorien Starship. I bought it last week for €100 from my paycheck. I've been aiming for this set for quite a while now, and as soon as I saw it offered in this condition for this price, I went and bought it. The Exploriens faction will conquer space once again, be certain of that! Now I can rest, and I will quit buying LEGO sets for the next couple of months. It's time to save up money (and sell some vintage LEGO sets).

If I were to sell them all at once, I'd value the sets at about €500 in total (=$675 CAD/=$645 USD/=£430 GBP).

But what would you value these sets? And if you have any more questions, feel free to ask them.

not bad... really cool collection of LEGOs! If I were you, I would probably build them very carfully, and them maybe sell it for more in about 10 years. more money :D

You actually get MORE money by keeping them "mint in the box". If you open and build them, they lose some of their value.

Nice little collection, I never had enough space sets. The only ones there that I got were the Space Hover (or rather Cyber Blaster) set and those go-kart sets. I also got them in the 90s and got most of the "small box" sets like these from a Little Chef that doesn't exist any more.
