Vacation!

So, with summer going on for two out of, what is it, 5 weeks, I finally embark on my vacation. At oh-four-hundred CST June 26th, 2010, we leave on a fifteen-hundred mile trek to the top of the United States to visit my grandparents and cousins. We'll be there for three weeks, and for most of that period I won't have internet access, so, no, I have not died. I should be back in about three weeks, maybe with a few minutes on RRU when I can snag WiFi from the city of Geneva. I think

Dwarf Fortress; and the TTYs

Well, I discovered that, with the help of the TEXT print mode, I can run DF in one of my TTYs. However, there is a catch. Every single "special" character shows up as a coloured "M". Which kinda makes things unusable, ya' know? So yeah, if anyone figures out how to set the codepage/font in Ubuntu TTYs to IBM's CP437, I'd be grateful, thanks. Also, discovered w3m, a console based web browser. Does a decent job of rendering RRU. Can't use the SBox (opens up some kind of editor{WTF}) but

Steam. And Portal

Well, since Valve's release of portal as free until the 24th, I have it now. And am on chamber...ehh....9 or so. Fun as heck Took me last night and this afternoon to download it, but A) Its fun, B) I basically get the Source Engine and the mods for Portal for free. Anyhow, all that aside, I now have steam. I *had* it on my laptop, but I couldn't figure out a username and it was just hogging startup time. And I couldn't find the settings button at that time Still, now I can get

The competition. And moar thoughts

Well, we didn't win anything. We never do. But hey, it was fun We maintained a win-ratio of 1/3. We One 3 out of 9 rounds. BUT IT WAS SSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CLOSE TO MAKING THAT WINNING 2/3 OF THE ROUNDS. ONE. STINKING. QUESTION. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Oh well. Projects final, and competitions

Meh. We got out reports back today. I got 155 out of...I *think* 225. I asked him "Is the ordering the only thing I messed up?" He said yes. He also gave a lecture on following instructions. And yet..do you really think Boeing will CARE if I put the preface behind the table of contents? Will that make me lose my job? Projects. And moar computers

If what I think is gonna happen within the next 24 hours happens, I am probably gonna hate my American History teacher. That project that I turned in, on the sheet it said, quite explicitly, everything must be in order to receive credit. Today, we found out he was quite serious. Computers. And my thoughts of the day.

So thats the last project for awhile that needs turned in. Next one is due in nearly a month, but considering how fast that time spirals down, I should probably get working on it soon. For some reason, the guys at L3 Titan are somewhat jealous. You can't connect anything that they don't maintain to the schools network, you would assume its for virus protection, but no. I never did get to using this

Heck, I'm still not exactly sure what its for. Still, the purpose seems to be the same as the blasted "Journal" were keeping in Language, except more free-form And so I'll use it. I've restarted the default FS2 campaign, so as to play it on medium difficulty in hopes that my wingmen will be LESS competent and stop stealing my kills, so I can get more promotions.
