It Feels Like Christmas!

Hello everybody!!! Today it really feels like christmas!!! No I am not joking, altought I might go crazy after this day is over! Today I finally recieved my cme u80 classic masterkeyboard together with the ewql ccc collection! Well it´s like a dream just became true when the postman ringed and gave me two 25 kg packets. I couldn´t wait to unpack everything ( I almost forgot about the breakfast - it was 8:15 am^^), so after 30 minutes everything was setup and ready to go. Well at least the in

Modding Suite: New Idea + New Solution = Progress!

Well today I am going to talk about this formula: Modding Suite: New idea + new solution = Progress! Well it´s true there is progress. The new idea was born while reading an entry about array storage in flash (altough I am not coding in flash). I managed to transfer this solution to Revolution (my coding language) and now I have a working array storage solution! Well I assume almost everyone of you don´t know what this means so here´s the explanation: My life just go

The Sun Rises

Two months ago I declared that I am not able to develope the Modding Suite any further. Two months ago my live darkened, the sunshine was replaced by the shadows of heavy rain coulds... Yeah that´s the image I get when I remember these two months. I didn´t even have time to start my computer... FOR 2 MONTHS!... Well okay all it says is that... I am back! And there we go: I am currently investigating my own Code. ... This sounds odd but after two months I can´t even remember the si

Modding Suite - Developement

Modding Suite (MS) - Developement Today I won´t write about the final steps in Modding Suite Developement. Why not? Well there is no progress. Hitting my first Milestone was a great pleasure and this pleasure was doubled when I reached my second Milestone shortly after the first. Now I have to admit that I wasn´t able to work on MS for weeks. The reason ... The reasons for this slow... stopped developement are based on multiple problems I had and still have to solve. I don´t kno

Modding Suite - Milestone 2

Modding Suite - Milestone II Today I have reached Milestone II in the Developement of the Modding Suite. Milestone II features a brand new Interface for the Modding Suite as well as 2 different skins and even more to come! The new Interface is cleaned up and very user friendly! Other changes that are involved into Milestone II are: 1. A heavy code cleanup. During the development cycle of Milestone II I removed over 1744 lines of code and rewrote 1350 lines of existing co

Modding Suite - The Future

First off: A happy new year to everyone! I know it´s a little bit late by February but since this is my first blog entry in 2011: Happy New Year! So and now let´s get back to business! The Modding Suite Last and latest news was that I dropped the project back in November 2010. And I picked it up by December 22th 2010 Since then I fixed my errors and the bugs I encountered, I also asked Cyrem to create a new Interface layout for the Modding Suite. In January Cyrem deliv

Rock Raiders Modding Suite Release

Hi again, well I just thought that it could be interesting to release the Modding Suite as a Binary infront of the SDK so you can test it out and see the tools in action. I decided this way because for an SDK you have to write and documentation and when I take a look at my code I can tell: This will take some time to clean this mess up and write some documentation about it. So here for everyone to download the Lego Rock Raiders Modding Suite: Lego Rock Raiders Modding Suite (Binary)

Rock Raiders Modding Suite - The End

Hello everybody, this is a sad day, at last for me because today I finally canceled the Modding Suite and the Mod Manager. I noticed that alot of you didn´t even notice that these projects existet for a while (6 months to be exact) and this is one of the reasons I quit programming these tools any further. The lack of interest is one thing the other thing is the Tool itself as I didn´t manage to get it working properly with the MySQL database which Cyrem provided for me, thanks Cyrem for y

LRR Pistole Modeling

Hi again, well first of all the Modding Suite is well progressing (means in coder´s terms: 1-2 months until first preview^^) but for today I have something different for you. We want to have a new Pistole Model for the Pilot Figure in Lego Rock Raiders. I won´t describe how to import & export models into Lego Rock Raiders and 3d editing packages as I have done that before and if you missed a point I kindly ask you to check my previous entries or to take a look into the Moddin

Lego Rock Raiders Modding Suite

I am totally driven by the wish to complete my new challenge: The Lego Rock Raiders Modding Suite! You may have noticed the developement of the Lego Rock Raiders Mod Manager. I learned a lot by it´s developement but I am not satisfied with it. The LRRMM uses FTP to upload files to the library without additi

Some News

Hi all, I finally got everything running what I need to go on working on the Mod and everything else. I am now using a newer version of 3ds max (sponsored by my admin) so you will see a new interface on my pics (basically everything stayed the same in the UI, the only thing that changed was the colortheme -> white to black. So here I am starting work and this is the Plan: 1. Programming LRR Mod Manager for my programming exam in C++. 2. Recreation of the whole Pilot Library

Pilot Library Rev 1 Release

So everybody. Time for our first attempt to actually mod LRR. I finished modeling the Pilot model for every Polymode (Lowpoly, Midpoly, Higpoly) and compiled the WAD. So here is the WAD Download (I don´t know wheter I am allowed to post this here but I think you can´t use it without the game so it should be allowed) Instrutions: 1. Extract RAR Archive 2. Overwrite LegoRR00.WAD with the new One or name it something higher (ex. LegoRR03.WAD) Changelog: Rev 1

Upcoming Tutorials

Sorry about the lack of updates in the last two weeks. I was on vacation in France so there was no time to dive further into the LRR Modeling Stuff. But now I am back again and I just wanted to tell you that we will discuss some tutorials about modeling and animating in the next days. When I finished my Lego Pilot Library (Since there are parts VLP_ ; LP_ etc. I call these librarys for better organisation) I will release a first Rev of the mod to see if the new model works and behaves proper

GODS Engine - Simple L.O.D System - Modeling Progress

Hello again. Today I did some more research in the Model Directory. Here we can find Models Named Minifig.lwo and LP_Minifig.lwo. To every artist in game developement and to most of you modders out there it´s obvious that LP stays for Lowpoly. For everyone who doesn´t know Lowpoly and L.O.D L.O.D stays for Level of Detail this is a very common system used by every Game Engine today. You have two versions of the same Model one medium detailed and one hig detailed. When you come

Lightwave/3ds max - Modify the first model

Note: Well I decided that I will write on this blog when I got something I want to share with you;). Today I started modifying the main model of LRR. You know it the LRR Pilot Model. Well as I said I will give you a tutorial based uppon the things I did and what I discovered. Modifying the LPhead.lwo You can find the head (I choosed this model because it´s very easy to add details to this and it fitted well in our Pipeline) in the extract Directory of your WAD file LRR0.WAD in th

Lightwave - Analysing the Model Setup

So here we are again. Actually I wanted to write on this blog weekly but yesterday evening I have discovered something I would like to share with you now. So what happened. Well I took a look at our LWS (Lightwave Scene) Files which include all LWO (Lightwave Object) Files. Like it looks here to me, it seems that the models are animated by the LWS Files. That means we don´t have to touch the LWS Files, we just have to modify the LWO files. A very good addition to our Pipeline is thi

Overview - Building the Production Pipeline

Hello everyone! Well first who I am: I am not someone who will promise you that by the end of this blog you will have developed Rock Raiders 2 or something like that! What I want is to discover the way what we are able to do with the tools we got - Thanks to the Rock Raiders United Community - and what we are able to modify. So to clarify things: I am not a scripter - so don´t expect to learn here how to port the LRR PS1 version to the PC;) - I am a 3D Artist. So I will teach you here
