Island Xtreme Stunts Unwrapping

Posted by le717 , in Triangular Minifigure Blog 02 May 2013 · 918 views

As some of you may already know, I now own Island Xtreme Stunts. It was given to me as a gift, and I was told it came all the way from Australia to the US. Wow.

Anyway, I thought I would share some unwrapping pics. You can see them all in the Flickr set.

Focus Essential. From what small research I did (and by that I mean reading the cover), it is a British company, and this was originally released in the UK.

This is a pretty disc, at least to me. When I got it, it was actually loose from the plastic holder, and was sliding around in the case. But when I opened it, nothing but a few small smudges. Oh, and did I mention it was still in the plastic wrap? Yup.

Interesting how Focus split the games into two lines: LEGO Range and Revival Range. How they classified Revival is somewhat odd, since LOCO was released in 1998, and Racers in 1999 but Racers ends up in the Revival Range. But what I really want to point out is the last game in the LEGO Range:

Gladior: Defenders of the Outer Dimension

Well, we know someone who classified that game as LEGO...

It is an original release. As in, no saving glitch, no crazy third-party edits, none like that. The original.
*Abstains from cheerful gloating. ;P*

At last! I now own the Island Trilogy. Now to move further in my quest to own all the pre-2001 LEGO games.

Next target: Rock Raiders, or LEGOLAND.

Pardon my ignorance, but...
"It is an original release. As in, no saving glitch, no crazy third-party edits, none like that. The original."

What is the saving glitch? What are these third-party edits? I assume I have an original (or three) although the disk definitely does not look like that.

Get LEGOLAND next, because Rock Raiders is way better (at least from the videos of Rock Raiders).

If I wanted to see an unboxing, I'd buy the game myself.

...and THIS is why we have problems on RRU. Because of ignorant posts like this. No offence to you, McJobless. "Love the Poster, hate the Post" as I say.

@MCJobless that sort of attitude is totally obnoxious. If you don't care, don't post.

Based on that "thanks" McJobless got, I can see the division between Editors here. :P

And how is my post ignorant? Le717 posted a topic of him unboxing a LEGO GAME. There's absolutely nothing to it. He didn't contribute anything to the works of this forum, and he's attempting to gain publicity from something better suited to his (already posted) status updates.

The attitude is not obnoxious because that would imply that Le717 had something worth defending. Quite frankly, I absolutely hate unboxings because they're useless and attention-seeking.

Maybe if it was a collector's edition thing with all cool manner of items, like lithographs and statues, I wouldn't have beef, because it's engaging a little bit of my curiosity on if I want to buy the product or not. But when it's a disc and a survey slip, you don't need to spend the effort just to show people how basic LEGO Video Game packages are.

^ Completely agreed, though it might have been better to clarify that up front given how easily people get ticked off sometimes.

The game list is even weirder. LEGOLAND came a few months before Alpha Team, but AT is in the revival range. Also why are they reviving Friends >:(

Get one game because the other is better?
Er

"Love the Poster, hate the Post" as I say.

What is this even supposed to mean

If you don't care, don't post.

I really don't like this, no matter how obnoxious he seemed. If I don't like something, I have every right to say I don't, and I will. Maybe if there is legitimately an issue (like an art i find fault in) the original maker might take that as advice for next time. Or maybe I just want to say I don't like it. If people can't express their negative opinions of something, shouldn't that mean people can't express their positive opinion either? So then what's the point of an opinion.

I wasn't trying to contribute anything in this post, nor was I trying to get attention. This post was more or less an expanded status update. It just says I'm working on my goal of getting all the pre-2001 LEGO games, and this is the one I got. And while unboxings can be (and usually are) boring, I thought that this might have the very slight and rare chance of benefiting a individual person (not the community). I mean, a lot of us posted images of our Racers discs when trying to learn what copies were '99 and '01, same with Rock Raiders. And with the bugs in IXS, I thought this might benefit someone later on. Who knows, someone might see this post, note it, and later on see a copy of IXS for sale, remember it is the same as this one, which doesn't have those bugs, and get it. If that happens, then it was good I posted this unboxing of a LEGO game which consisted of nothing more than a case and sleeve. Otherwise, this is an expanded status update.

Some times, I hate unboxings too, and most of them are boring, like this one. So you're not alone. You have every right to not care about this post. I don't care about a lot of stuff, and while I usually don't voice that, sometimes I do. You voiced your opinion, and I respect that.

Did you not catch the last line after the link? It said "(Quote by rioforce)". I did not say that. I only posted it because I found it funny. "Friendzies" is kinda a play on words (Friend and Frenzy), and I thought others would laugh at it too. Granted, the link could have pushed it over the top, but I actually let rio write that. He added the link, and I left it as is. Again about publicity, I wasn't trying to. I saw it as a joke, and even someone I've spoken too sees it as that, although he didn't at first.

The saving glitch... it effects Encore rereleases. The game will corrupt your saves sometimes, at any point. This is an original version, not an Encore release, so it does not have that glitch. Third-party edits, back to Encore, but also the various RR versions. Some had copy protection, some don't. Some have music, others don't. Another RR version by (who else?) Encore doesn't work, according to McStudz.

Eh, LEGOLAND is like Zoo Tycoon (I used to own Zoo Tycoon 2). I really didn't like that game. The only reason I would really really want LEGOLAND is to fix that subborn installer. I would rather have RR, since it is completely modable, and (to me) looks more fun than LEGOLAND.

Yea, I have no idea how they put together that list, but it doesn't really make much sense. Reviving Friends? Who knows. Same reason they consider Gladior a LEGO game? 8S

Uhh, actually, my copy is exactly like this and it has that saving glitch. It usually takes a really long time to take effect though and I got it when I had 99% on a file.

Clarify: I somewhat liked Zoo Tycoon 2. I enjoyed it in the sense that it was fun to walk around, feed the animals, and build a desert in the Artic, but I didn't like it in the sense that that was all there was to do, and how you could never hire zoo keepers, since all they did was sit on park benches all day long, and ended up hiding or removing all gates to make them do their job.

What? So you mean the saving glitch has been present from the beginning? I thought it only affected the Encore version.

You know what, I was going to retort to McJobless, but then I realized this was a losing battle. This kind of blog post may not really contribute to the forums, but then again, the majority of the blogs don't to begin with.

So I'm not getting into this. Go and do whatever the hell you want.

What? So you mean the saving glitch has been present from the beginning? I thought it only affected the Encore version.

As far as I know it's in all versions of the PC game - heck, I don't think anybody has even noticed any differences between the various releases besides different publisher startup menus and whatnot. The whole thing about it only being in some versions was basically just conjecture that formed from nowhere and somehow stuck around like a piece of gum on your shoe.

Oh great. So now that patch has more importance than ever before...

Maybe someone has it stashed on their FTP, but it is buried in all the Google results that it cannot be found. Like how I found a copy of the long-lost IWZ2ISS tool. But even then, I knew what the original filename was, and I have no idea for this IXS patch.

BobaFett2 What is the saving glitch?

It is something that causes saves to go corrupt for no particular reason. It's related to things like character location and actions and not power outages (although those can corrupt ANY save).
