Review

The Cyan Mk. VI Spartan is an exclusive Mega Bloks Halo micro-action figure (MAF) that San Diego Comic Con-goers received when they visited the Mega Bloks booth. I have heard that they were exclusive to SDCC 2014, but I've also heard that they were available at RTX 2014 as well. They don't have a fixed retail price, but I'd estimate that they are worth around $7-$10 to collectors. I bought mine for $7.50 MISB + Free Shipping, so I'd say I got a pretty good deal on mine. This is the second figure that Mega Bloks has given away at Comic Con, preceeded by the SDCC 2013 Gunmetal Spartan Mk. VI.

The Packaging

The packaging isn't anything to get too excited about; it's pretty standard. The figure's displayed on the front, advertising "NEW Super-Poseable Micro Action Figures", as well as advertising the fact that it's a 2014 exclusive figure. The Halo and Mega Bloks logos are also displayed. The back of the package showcases the interchangeable armor system. There's the usual legal info on the bottom. I don't understand why there's a bar code though. If it's a convention handout, why does it need to be scanned? There's also the lot code (A16054KF) on the left hand side of the back of the bag, something that all Halo MAFs have to make it easier to identify them.

The Contents

When you spill out the contents of the bag, you get the parts needed to build the figure, a black shotgun, an ID block, and a very nicely folded advertisement. The enclosed ad showcases the other Mega Bloks sets released around the same timeframe (UNSC Mongoose, UNSC Wombat Recon Drone, NMPD Cyclops, NMPD Cruiser Standoff, UNSC Flamehog, UNSC Midnight Broadsword Strike, and the Flood Invasion). The NMPD Hornet can also be seen on the bottom with a $5 off coupon for $20 worth of Halo Mega Bloks products. It's only good through December 31st of 2014, so I'd better hurry up and use it. On the reverse side you have the same legal information as the stuff on the packaging, as well as a part inventory and instructions on how to build the figure.

The Figure

The figure is absolutely beautiful. Cyan is one of the better colors that carries over to plastic, and that is definitely the case for this Spartan. No unique molds, but it still looks fantastic. The visor paint is very well done, and the black and grey speckles in the parts makes him look pretty cool. The armor system and articulation are also great. The black shotgun is a really common piece, so nothing interesting about it. I would've preferred to see an assault rifle or battle rifle with a skin from the game, but beggars can't be choosers.

Final Thoughts

This is a very nice figure to own. While it's roughly 2x the MSRP of the regular collectible figures, it is an SDCC exclusive, so that's to be expected. The Spartan is very well detailed and the visor paint app is very well done. Would've been better with a different weapon in my opinion, but nothing's really bad about this figure. If there was a grunt or elite packaged with the figure, that would've been great and made for a great conflict in a bag, but that would've cost much more than MB felt was appropriate for an SDCC exclusive. It isn't a great starter kit, but for collectors it's great.
